Any suggestions for a viewing location for Comet Lemmon tonight

I applied for a permit for Montebello tomorrow night but would like to take a peek tonight. Being low on the horizon in the West, the location will have to be high enough to clear the hills on that side. Are there places where it is legal to park off of Skyline, shaded from headlights?

I think that Mindego Gateway, also managed by MROSD, would be much more suitable than Monte Bello. Maybe you can call them and switch locations.

Yes, it seems they just call it “Mindego” or “Mindego Hill Trailhead” now. You can refer to this map:
