Looks like the 11th is a bad choice, unless we want to move it to the evening.  Which works better for me anyway.  How's everybody else feel about a Sunday evening at TechShop?

Dave,

Yes, Road blocks will be in place and cars will only be let through when race officials deem it safe for you to travel from the gate to the parking lot of TechShop. This is something they do not like doing and will sometime permit begrudgingly. Which is why I suggested another date or location.

They claim to be all finished by around 7pm if you want to schedule your get together for sometime later in the evening.

There have been flyers up at the shop for weeks but nothing on the web.

Robert,

When you say "limited access", what do you mean?  Road blocks for the bike race and such?  Are your hours different?  I didn't see anything on the TechShop web site about the issue.

I'm usually busy on Sunday evenings. I could be available at 3 PM on
Sunday the 18th, or possibly Saturday the 24th or Sunday the 25th.

For me the 18th is out. Either of the 24th or 25th work for me.

So, have we concluded that the 11th is out? I need to know by the end of today whether I need to adjust the calendar for tomorrow. If I don't hear back, I'll assume that tomorrow (the 11th) is off because of the bike race.

any chance we could do it on a weeknight?

I'm usually busy on weeknights.

I'm getting the distinct impression that no one actually wants the colored ABS very much.  I'm actually perfectly happy to keep it, if people prefer to order themselves the rainbow pack form the MakerBot store.

Eric,

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

<rant>
I'm getting the distinct impression that YOU, Eric, overcommitted when you signed up to run a group purchase. I've been involved in many group purchases through my ham radio club, and also the Home Brew Robotics club. This one has been astoundingly badly organized by comparison.

The organizer (that would be you) needs to be a driver, and needs to have enough time in their calendar to actually organize something and make it happen. I've sent more e-mails than you trying to make this happen. Go count them. Mike has sent at least as many as you. Go count them. I know my own calendar has been full of holes, but I've made myself available for 3X or 4X the number of dates that you have. Now, getting hosed over by the bike race blocking off TechShop today was just bad luck all around. None of us could have predicted that. But I humbly suggest that as the organizer of the group purchase, that you actually start doing some fsck'ing organizing.

I never offered to organize anything. I ordered plastic for my own
use, and when Makerblock asked, I mentioned that I'd already ordered
some, and would be willing to sell part of it. I stated on March 22
that I was travelling on certain dates, that I'm very busy so I can't
do any "organizing", and that I don't have a place to do it. I've
offered several dates that I could do it, and there have been various
problems with all of them.

Since I went to the trouble to buy the plastic, I didn't think it was
too much to ask for people that wanted it to try to be at least
somewhat flexible and accommodate my schedule regarding splitting it
up. Obviously I was mistaken.

If someone with time on their hands wants an "organized" group
purchase, by all means they should set one up themselves, and thereby
avoid being inconvenienced by my busy schedule.

Eric
