Just placed an order for a Cupcake from batch #11, so the wait begins...

Thought I would introduce myself since I'm sure I'll be having questions.

Welcome and good luck. Where are you? (roughly)

I got the basic. It looks like a power supply is the only major piece that isn't included in the basic kit other than tools and incidentals.

The USB2TTL cable is critical. If you don't have one already, you
should make a point of picking one up. Also, the kit comes with two
wrenches - which are very helpful in a lot of places - esp since they
have one open and one closed side. While you're out shopping, pick up
some super glue, 3-in-1 oil, primer, and paint.

See Makerblock's comment wrt cable. Should mb be out of kits, think
they come from adafruit, and something similar is available from
sparkfun.

The wood is unsealed, so apply IKEA finish of choice. I stained mine,
would probably just clear seal next time.

It's the standard FTDI FT-232 cable, right? I've got a few of those about. I assume they used the one with the header shell and not the bare wire version.

It's just an ordinary 13mm combination wrench, right? Anything special about it, like extra thin or stubby or something?

:) See - these are exactly the kinds of things I don't have lying
around.
I suppose standard FTDI cable? Mine says TTL-232R-5V if that helps at
all. The connector to the board has bare wires going into a connector
piece.
No, I don't think the wrench is of an unusual stature.

I painted mine and rather like the gray exterior/silver interior and
small parts theme. If you are going to paint it, definitely do it
before you assemble. You're never going to want to disassemble
it. :)

You need to spend more time building robots :) Of course, years of accumulating electronic supplies doesn't hurt.

Yes, exactly.

Thanks!
