And now you know why scooter board batteries spontaneously go nuclear. 
 
And why Chevy Bolts had unexplained battery fires. That defect is so small and it takes only 1 cell out of 288 to get things started. The only way to spot it is to x-ray the cells the way they did. This kind of inspection is impossible after assembly because you can't separate the cells once the pack is assembled. The only choice was to replace them all.
