SEVA MEETING MINUTES - March 10, 2026
The March 10, 2026 meeting of the Seattle Electric Vehicle Association was convened at MASA Center at the Old Rainier Brewery Building in Seattle.
SEVA President Stephen Johnsen called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. and requested to recognize any new members, but no one was new.
EVENTS - President Johnsen announced SEVA's event for National Drive Electric Earth Month will be at Bellevue College, April 13, 9:45 am-2 pm, Other shows will be happening in Lacey, Chelan, Portland and Tri-Cities.
CHARGING - President Johnsen reminded members to practice charging safety by using high-quality adapters and installing EV-rated outlets at home, which should be inspected annually to check for loose connections.
CONVERSION EQUIPMENT - President Johnsen announced that MLe Racecars is closing and liquidating inventory through an auction starting March 24 and continuing to March 31 on the Murphy auction website. He also noted that
Alex Bessinger of Watt Works in Portland is moving and selling Tesla and Chevy Volt battery packs.

POLICY UPDATE - Secretary Grace Reamer gave an update on Senate Bill 6354, which awaits a final vote in the House of Representatives to expand direct sales of EVs in Washington state to Rivian and Lucid..
SPECIAL GUEST - David Lewis from Green River College presented details about his new Electric Automotive Technology program. The first pilot class now has nine students. He also is offering boot camps for high school automotive instructors to learn about EV tech in August. Students are using a Ford Mach-E, Chevy Bo!t and Nissan Leaf to work on. Basic electrical training is a prerequisite. They also are converting a 2004 Mazda RX-8 to electric and building electric Switch Labs karts.
EV1 UPDATE - President Johnsen and SEVA member Micah Peterson presented updates about the abandoned GM EV1 VIN212 that was rescued and is undergoing restoration. They recently traveled to Bellingham and got access to Western Washington University's EV1 to do 3D scanning of the car with Peterson's equipment. Then the new owner of the V212 car invited Peterson to visit and scan the disassembled car. Questionable Garage is assisting with the restoration and posting videos about the process.
NEXT MEETING - SEVA's next monthly meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14 at the MASA Center at the Old Rainier Brewery in Seattle. All are welcome to attend.
