This isn't a lot of lead time but, an EV class sounds like something we should support.  Members that live south of Seattle might want to jump on this if anyone down there wants to step forward and organize a sign up.

I came across your webpage when looking at a post one of your members made to sell a car.

I wanted to take a moment to invite you all, and any of your members (would be cool if you could pass this email along to your distribution list if possible) to an open house we are having at Green River College.

We are located in Auburn WA, and we are starting an Electric Vehicle class.

The open house is to show off our new EV program, equipment we have purchased, and what we are doing to train the next generation of automotive technicians.

This class would be an excellent class for anyone wanting to learn about Theory, Safety, diagnostics, and a bit about conversion.

See attached file for information, including address and contact information.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Here is more information about the open house on Wednesday March 4th at Green River College.  I'm thinking of taking my car down there just to here Mr. Lewis give his talk about this new automotive training program.  Is anyone else interested?

Here is the class description

As electric vehicles (EVs) reshape the future of transportation, understanding their unique safety challenges is essential for technicians, and industry professionals. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the safety principles, standards, and technologies specific to EV systems. Students will explore the design and operation of high-voltage battery systems, High voltage Interlock systems, AC and DC motor systems, High voltage inverters and converters, EV specific Tools and High voltage shutdown procedures. Emphasis is placed on Personal Protective Equipment, and hands-on safety procedures for working with Electric Vehicles and components.

And here is the  Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

1.         Explain high-voltage safety standards and regulations relevant to electric vehicle systems, including SAE and NFPA guidelines.

2.         Demonstrate proper use and selection of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)     when working with high-voltage EV components.

3.         Identify and classify high-voltage components within electric vehicle                      architectures, including battery packs, inverters, and power electronics.

4.         Describe the structure, chemistry, and configuration of EV battery systems,          including cell types, modules, and battery management systems.

5.         Perform safe shutdown and verification procedures for high-voltage systems,       following industry-standard lockout/tagout protocols.

6.         Diagnose faults and conduct isolation testing on EV electrical systems using          appropriate tools and techniques.

7.         Prepare for industry-recognized certification exams, demonstrating readiness      through practical assessments and theoretical knowledge.

The open house will give business and community members time to see our shop, our new equipment, and ask any questions that they may have.

It will be open house style with myself giving a speech to outline what we are doing, a tour of the shop, and much time for questions and answers.

We have a decent parking lot, should be able to park many cars.

We do have 4 ChargePoint level 2 stations in the back lot behind our shop. And 4 more on our main campus. Sorry no DC fast charging on site.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Hey David

I'm the VP of SEVA and I would like to know more about your training program.  There's not a lot of lead time but I have put this out to our mailing list to see if we can get any cars to show up.  Can you tell me more about where this would be held?  Is there much parking?  Do you have any outlets or charging facilities in case we have a driver that needs them?

And can you point me to more information about the actual training program?

Here again is the attachment he sent.  The parking lot is not large and we should be able to find each other once there.  The open house is 3-5 pm.

More information about the open house at Green River Community College tomorrow.  Also, it appears there's going to be another event in May.

We are not planning on having any sort of car show at this time. In May we are planning some other cool stuff that will include a small car show.

Correct, we are trying to show off our program to the community and hope to build some relationships. I would love to have a few people come to our event in May, and would also love to talk with someone that has done some conversions that may be willing to give us some pointers on our conversion that we are doing, as well as possibly be a guest speaker to the class and discuss their love for EV's and conversions.

If 3 or 4 people brought cars, we could park them right out in front of our shop, and display them, to show off what students would be able to do with some knowledge and skill and love of EV's.

Thank you for your time,

Hey David,

Normally when people contact the Seattle Electrical Vehicle Association they want us to bring EVs to some event.  But I'm figuring that you are only interested in having us attend your open house to hear about the program.  Is that right or are you hoping to have some cars to display?

Sounds like a great new EV program is starting at the college and a few of us will be down there tomorrow afternoon! A reminder it is from 3 to 5pm with light refreshments and the address of the Green River College tech center is:

31813 124TH AVE SE
TT-A100
AUBURN, WA 98092

If anyone brings an EV conversion they'll save 4 spots out front just for conversions (Brian H. hope to see your Scion XB indeed 😎) Sounds like there is L2 charging available too if anyone else needs it.

I'll look forward to seeing folks tomorrow but I may not personally make it until closer to 4pm.
Let's check what cool stuff this new EV education program has! :)
