I came close to this. Plugshare guided me to two level 2 ChargePoint public chargers at this location:
Seattle Jeep (Chrysler Dodge Ram)
13733 Aurora Ave N,
Seattle, WA 98133, USA
Seattle, WA 98133, USA
This dealership refused my request to charge my S-10 even for 20 min. I pointed out that they were listed as public on both Plugshare and ChargePoint websites. Didn't matter. I didn't make it home to Bothell after Greenwood.
I was towed the last 3 miles.
The lesson here is that "public" charging stations aren't aways available to the public.

Have I understood correctly that it is level 2 chargers which are
particularly hard to find? Are older EVs unable to use level 3
chargers, and are level 3 chargers newer, with level 2 being phased out?
And, if so, wouldn't this mean a major society-wide problem in that
this type of "planned obsolescence" (or thoughtlessly not-so-planned?)
is an obstacle to the less wealthy taking up the older used EVs when
those who can afford new EVs keep upgrading to new models? This really
makes me not want to buy a car. I don't understand how EVs are becoming
so popular when even you experts and enthusiasts have such constant
battles to find chargers.

Level II chargers are hard to find in a few areas. My EV is a conversion and will only charge from Level II or Level I. Most Evs work well with Level III or DC fast charging.
I live in Bothell and close to Woodinville. Within 3 miles of my house there are dozens of Level II chargers. None of them are useful to me because I can charge at home. However some routes I drive are Level II deserts. For example, between the Green Lake area
and Bothell, from Bothell to Issaquah*, Bothell to Snohomish or Mill Creek. There are lots of Level II chargers in the Redmond downtown area that basically provide free parking of Tesla owners. *For 25 cents and a beer, I will disclose the location of a row
of Level II charging stations in an industrial area close to Redmond. 6 of them! Always available on the weekends. ChargePoint.
Thing is, there used to be Level II chargers on those routes. Now there are none.
This is not really an issue for most Evs. I will rant no further.
