Anyone find a good alternative to this app? I've been looking but can't find anything that has a widget that's easy to use for on/off/timer or that can be activated via the notificaiton bar. I like SP but it seems the developer has given up on it. The fact that the sound doesn't get set properly means the program is just about useless for me.

There is no alternative that offers the same options. Now I use Liama Locations profiles but I wants to go back to Settings Profiles.

I must have tried 10 different apps, bought two that didn't work out, finally found one that is pretty close for my needs. Its "Profile Scheduler" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wetpalm.ProfileScheduler&hl=en. Been using it a couple of days and it works well but I really won't know until I use it while I'm working.

Forgot to mention, there is a free ad supported version which I'm using now. I'll buy it if it works out next week.

After update to Galaxy Nexus and Jelly Bean, was got a couple of bugs with Settings Profile, e.g. don't swith sound profile, lost location, etc.
On the next few month I test:
- tasker – it monster of automatization, but have ugly UI and unsiquence logic, use it now, but looks around for alternatives;
- Llama – separate settings for sound and other functions, can't back profile to previous state. It can be done if you create 2 conditions for start and stop profile. That logic is incorrect for me.
- Automagic Automator (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.gridvision.ppam.androidautomagic) – looks nice, but after 3 days i can say: "I don't understand logic of it"

In result, I can't find a replacement of Settings Profile.
Simple tool with simple logic:
- define location;
- create rule;
- set a condition when rule must execute and roll back system state after stop.

Absolutely right.
I'm continuously looking for an alternative but nothing can match setting profiles.
It's said that the developer stopped the development.

I've switched to Tasker for the time being... not too bad once you get the hang of it... but I do miss the simplicity of SP...

SP stays the best for me too, as it is the only one that restores the initial state when leaving a profile (kind of stack of profile)

I have a rooted HTC Desire and I tried a lot of JB roms (4.1 and 4.2 based) and got no issue with SP. I had just to edit some profiles to adjust silence and vibrate mode. I had to update locations too.
Also in JB, GPS cannot be changed simply : I found a workaround by using SecureSettings app as it embedds a tasker plugin that allows SP to monitor GPS and air plane mode. It really works well on my HTC Desire
Hope it will help you to continue to use SP on JB phones ...

I noticed that when I switched from gingerbread to Jellybean... the logic on my SP profiles stopped working properly...

Had rules triggering for two different locations triggering at the same time and other weird things...

SP works fine for me. I'm using JB on a rooted phone. However, I suspect it might not work for all. In some situations it's not really SP but a change to Android itself (e.g., the inability to access GPS settings). If you root your phone you can use Secure Settings to get GPS and other functionality back.

For alternatives I've tried the ones you mention but I usually recommend Easy Profiles which I think is reasonably close to SP (although only one profile can be active at a time and you generally have to create an enter and exit profile yo revert to previous settings, but not always).

About SP development the developer went off grid for months and popped back up last November and did a lot of work. I keep hoping that maybe the same thing will happen shortly.

Anybody try Phone Weaver? It seems to be most similar to SP after EasyProfiles. It has a widget that can select profiles and you can select how long they run. Haven't fully tested it but it seems to have possibilities.

Yes,I've. Now, don't work for the airplane mode and no support since more months......or years

Shoot. I see Phone Weaver hasn't been updated since November 12. So, are you saying no support for that program as well? Oh well. I thought it might work for SP.

I received email from Phone Weaver developer that app is still being developed and updates are forthcoming. I'm looking seriously at AutomateIt though.

Although I'm looking at AutomateIt a lot due to several of the triggers offered (e.g., driving), I found another promising app similar to SP call MyProfiles. It's worth taking a look.

As I wrote in another post I've abandoned many apps I've tried due to lack of rules similar to SP. I'm still playing with AutomateIt. Just stumbled on another one: MacroDroid. Also looks promising. More similar to AutomateIt or Tasker than SP though.

I've finally switched to Llama.

I tried it some years ago but I didn't like it/it wasn't useful, but now I have the exact same things that I had in SP (and I think I even have some more).

If you give it a try and you need help just ask.

What Llama and most if not all the other apps seem to require is a rule or trigger to reverse an action. In SP, if I turn on my WiFi rule for 30 minutes, when it's done it reverses the WiFi setting without my having to write a rule to reverse it. Llama us a great app. It just isn't SP. I might have to change eventually but until then I will keep using SP. ;-)

I stumbled on another possible alternative app: E-Robot. It seems to be VERY powerful. It includes all kinds of triggers/events. When coupled with Elixir 2, an app from the same developer, you can create profiles and trigger them using events/conditions set I am E-Robot. The app also includes the use of variables (although I haven't figured these out yet). Try it out if you want something powerful. It's not as pretty as SP, but it is more powerful (it includes a lot of features I see requested for AutomateIt).
