Folks:

After using Setting Profiles almost since the beginning and watching it die of malnourishment, I've put together Setting Stacks, which brings a Setting Profiles-like environment to Tasker.

Using it does require basic familiarity with Tasker, but the payoff is the prioritized application of settings that we all liked in SP without the hassle of having to do it yourself.  The model should be familiar:  you define Tasker profiles for the conditions you want and use a pair of tasks called SS-Enter and SS-Exit to add and remove groups of setting changes (with priorities) to the overall state of your device.  There are also facilities for enabling a task for a period of time and displaying a list of the active settings.

Setting Stacks and a full user manual are available at no charge on GitHub at https://github.com/blrfllabs/settingstacks.  It's an importable project and goes to great lengths to avoid interference with anything else you're doing with Tasker.

The current version is 0.7, and while it's tagged as beta, I've been using it daily on my handset and tablet for well over a month to do everything I used to do with SP and then some.

Enjoy!

Thanks this is highly appreciated. I'm also a user of sp since the beginning. Good to see it's becoming live again.

Sounds great. I'll try it out. I, too, used Setting Profiles almost from the beginning and then finally switched to Tasker (after trying several other automation apps including AutomateIt & E-Robot).

Just to be clear, this isn't Setting Profiles coming back from the dead, it's a Tasker project that lets you do similar things.

Understood. I've automated my phone with Tasker and written several Tasker widgets that mimic the timed profile options SPF has on its main widget screen since SPF died.
