Some people try to get rid of Twitter's refresh sound by muting their phone notifications, but can be a rather inconvenient method. You should not have toggle silent mode on your phone to get a smoother experience on one app.

Rather than the classic paper rustling and the little pop that you will no doubt be familiar with if you are an avid Twitter user, the new sound is like a bird chirping. Every single time you pull down to refresh.

Our neurodiverse team started by conducting research interviews and usability testing with people who self-identified as neurodivergent to better understand what kinds of sounds do and do not trigger sensory sensitivities. Guided by their input, we got to work with the audio experts at Listen creating a growing collection of new Twitter sounds designed to meet the following criteria:

Over time, Twitter has improved itself in different ways. We've seen several redesigns, new logos and whatnot. But, the latest one is something which is apparently not sitting well with some users out there - the new chirp sound effect.

Launch the Twitter app and let the timeline refresh, or simply pull to refresh it, and you'll hear a sound effect which you've never heard before. Make sure your iPhone, iPad or Android device isn't in silent mode in order to hear it. That sound is confirmation that your timeline has refreshed - a nice little touch.

Sadly, not everyone likes the new sound effect, and if you're reading this and fully agree with that, then you will be pleased to learn that you can disable the sound effect. In case you are wondering - no, you can't bring back the old sound effect, you can only mute the current one.

From now on, whenever you refresh Twitter, you won't hear the new chirp sound. With the sound effects option turned off, the app won't make any sort of sound at all. But, do keep in mind that regular notification sounds will be available on a system level. This change only removes the in-app sound effects.

Although many would throw out an opinion that letting the user customize the sound effect would have been a nice touch, but does it really matter? It really doesn't. It's just a negligible feature in an app that adds no real value at all.

In fact, I didn't even realize there was a nice sound effect until a few days had passed away. My iPhone is always on silent mode therefore I never got the chance to hear it the moment it was rolled out.

I was listening to music, and my sound suddenly went dead in all my applications. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04, which uses pulseaudio, so I tried sudo /etc/init.d/pulseaudio restart, but nothing happened. According to lsof grep pcm, nothing is using the soundcard at the moment, although I'm not entirely sure if my source for that command is applicable.

I had exactly the same symptom: sound suddenly died (after trying to use Audacity, in my case). The OP didn't mention he was/wasn't wearing headphones, which was my case. I tried all options here and, when going to Preferences and changing to HDMI or Speaker output worked, but switching to Headphones didn't work (no sound). I then tried to unplug and re-plug the headphones and it worked.

My A/V Receiver has a pass-through mode so if i just want to use TV Audio which i usually use for TV Shows then i just use that pass-through mode, However when i want to watch a movie i turn the A/V Receiver on so i get Surround sound.

This is 5 years old, but I found the solution to this. I have had a similar problem for about a year. First, press Win + R, then type control. Press enter, and then you are in the old control panel. Click on Hardware and Sound, then Sound. This opens another window and should refresh the sound device list. From there, you can select your sound device as the default, or restart the new settings app. Your sound devices should appear.

The Université Côte d'Azur signature-manifesto takes on a new dimension with the sound imprint it now leaves behind. The signature sound is resolutely modern. It summons the future by playing with echoing tones.
The result of an innovative approach and of in-house engineering, this musical creation, which reflects the DNA and vision of Université Côte d'Azur, will be included in all our communications.
The students who composed this unique and original music were inspired by the values and ambitions of Université Côte d'Azur and the riches of the Mediterranean region.
The signature sound was created by students of the MSc Music Production and Sound Design for Visual Media (class of 2023), under the direction of Jean-François Trubert, Professor of Musicology at the CREATES Graduate School for Arts and Humanities. The National Orchestra of Cannes and our partner DOLBY ensured optimal recording of the signature sound.

With this signature sound and fragrance, Université Côte d'Azur opens a new door to a unique and memorable experience that unifies its community and expands its international outreach.

"We tasked our talented design team with creating a refreshed retail environment that reflects a new era for INFINITI," said Sam Xin, global divisional general manager, INFINITI Brand. "The result is a bright, welcoming space where customers can experience thoughtful hospitality when engaging and interacting with our brand"

Experiences are always more memorable and stimulating when more than one sense is engaged. In addition to a refreshed visual identity, INFINITI today introduces a new multisensory signature, encompassing scent and sonic elements, to create another dimension of connection with customers.

To capture the feeling of INFINITI through sound, the brand today released its own brand master track, titled "Moment of Tranquility", serving as the foundation for a new sound logo (sonic), as well as for use at future brand activations and in-car experiences.

The sound logo creates a sense of anticipation by marrying powerful Japanese musical elements with more serene sounds to deliver a harmonious balance. A taiko drum, the embodiment of human performance and power, contrasts with a soft furin (Japanese wind chime), an instrument played only by the wind, to add a layer of tranquility and refinement. True to INFINITI's brand value of "Human", the sound is anchored around a female voice humming as a signal to all senses that something exciting is about to happen.

To capture the feeling of INFINITI through sound, the brand today released its own brand master track, titled "Moment of Tranquility," serving as the foundation for a new sound (or sonic) logo as well as for use at future brand activations and in-car experiences.

The musical hook leverages inspiration from the Japanese spatial concept of "Ma", where the pause between the notes is as important as the notes themselves, providing a moment of anticipation. And, given INFINITI's focus on predicting customer needs and providing rewarding and memorable luxury experiences for owners, the sound logo echoes its values.

I took delivery of my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT with the Bose HD system two weeks ago. I was not very impressed with the Bose system so I decided to start upgrading the speakers first to see how it sound before considering adding an amplifier. So far I have replaced my front door 6x9's and back door 6 1/2's speakers with the JL Audio C1-690x and JL Audio C1-650x speakers. So far using the stock Bose amplifier these speakers sound 100x better. More crisp and adds some more base to the system. These really bring the sounds alive when you turn it up. The only issue which will be handled today is the dash speakers. They overpower these new door speakers at lower volume due to the doors being 4ohm vs Bose's lower OHM. I did decide to order the Kenwood KFC-X2C speakers to replace my dash speakers over the weekend which come today. These should complete the sound system and give a better balance along with a more crisp sound. I will add to this review tomorrow once they are installed. So far the JL Audio C1's are an excellent upgrade using the factory amplifier but If you go this route expect to upgrade the dash since it will not sound right til you crank it plus the dash Bose just ruins the overall sound experience IMO. Very muffled sound. Sounds like someone put a towel over a great sounding speaker. How they had no tweeter in this speaker basket is beyond me.

The original dash speakers really ruin the overall sound of the system and honestly Bose and GM should be a shamed that they put such crap speakers in these expensive trucks. I spent $70k on this SLT and have had other vehicles for far less money that sounds better. This is not an HD system as they call it and other manufactures like Ford and RAM have worked with better companies to put a lot better sound system into their vehicles. I think Bose is done in my book for speakers. The fact that this have no tweeters in them at all in this day of age is a shame. Ether Bose needs to up their game or GM needs to find a better solution with someone else as a upgraded sound system. I would pay for a HK upgrade or better.

I added the Kenwood KFC-X2C dash speakers and all I can say is wow what an upgrade. Everything sounds sooo much better. It really completed the system. I feel adding a amplifier to really tune it right is the next step but I would say this is a 8/10 upgrade with the factory HD Bose amplifier. I highly recommend this setup to anyone looking to send under $500 bucks to upgrade speakers. All in all it took me about 2 1/2 hours to do the setup and Crutchfield gives you all the directions to do so.
