Thevram requirements for the quality recovery mode are not super strict. I have a 6GB gpu and even though I get that message, the recovery still runs on the gpu. You have to make sure that other programs are not consuming vram though. So you might struggle to run it at the same time as Photoshop, for example. I recall that 8GB is the recommended minimum.

I have had problems with AI Gigapixels. I have the minimum requirements.

I just looked at the requirements for this program and now it has a warning about using with NVIDIA GEFORCE.

Unless you are making very large pictures, 4GB will do. I have 4GB on my GPU and have never had an issue and it should not affect speed. I use and recommend a Radeon RX580 as the best bang for the dollar but if you have the money get the Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti.

I have yet to update to AIG v4 mainly because I have been concerned about the almost beta level issues being raised. Possibly groundless but the one reported about much slower processing in v4 compared v3 puts me off the update for now???

Since it states now that Nvidia Geforce is unsupported, and use CPU only with that graphic card, should I buy NVidia for the new computer (and use CPU) or look at alternates.

Such a dilemma, since NVIDIA is highly recommended for photo post treatment processing.

I took it as not supported and that even with minimum or maximum requirements I would need to use CPU, not GPU. That notice was not there when I bought AIG. I ran it once, then it would not run. Not sure why.

But I want to have a good graphics card with a new computer, so I was seeking advice.

Susan, I gave you good advice and you want to use a good graphics card not the CPU for the Topaz AI products. The two cards I recommended will out perform the GTX 1050 Ti. If you get a totally new computer get a Ryzen 5 2600X CPU and choose one of the two GPUs i recommended. You also should have a SSD ( a NVMe M.2 is best) for your drive. You can get the RX580 with 8GB of VRAM and since prices have dropped in the US, I would recommend the extra memory.

You bring up a good point, if an upgrade is made a new power supply may be needed. Should be 600W or more and have the 8 pin GPU connector (usually a 6 + 2 pin). I build my own computers so its easier to select components.

This is normal. The GPU utilization in the task manager is not precise. If you want to track the actual GPU usage, please try Nvidia-smi. You can also increase the amount of GPU usage in the app by going to Process > Preference and increasing the AI Resources Demand

I recently tried the trials of the new Topaz AI programs, but discovered there was no way my PC with 8Gb memory and i5 proccessor was going to cope with the very high requirements of these programs, so I unistalled them all.

I now find they are still listed in the Photoshop effects menu. I have looked everywhere - in all Common Files folders both x86 and x64. Plugin folder in Photoshop, all through Program Data. I cannot find them anywhere, so cannot delete.

Photoshop Plug-in are normally installed into Adobe Photoshop version Plug-in folder. Check each Photoshop version you have install plug-in folder for any Topaze plug-in. I do not is install Topaz plug-ins so I do not know exactly how they are installed or where there are installed into,

Then search your disk for all files that have Topaz file names. If they are still listed as installed they are on you disk or SSD somewhere. I stated I do not install their software so I have no idea where they install their files or how they hook then into Photoshop. File explorer search topaz at least. Also look at your Photoshop menu Help>System Info. See where they are listed in there optional and third party.

However, there are situations when the lighting just isn't working or you need to capture footage in less-than-ideal situations. In those situations, use Topaz Labs. AI editing software has dramatically improved over the last few years, going from being a strange curiosity to now becoming almost a requirement in many people's workflows. For instance, in my workflow, I am using Topaz Sharpen for virtually every single image that I edit.

Although most cameras that have been released in the last few years can shoot 4K video to at least a reasonable standard, we are slowly but surely starting to move towards 8K resolution video. This is highly unlikely to happen in the next few years; however, preparing for this eventuality even with a few small steps today is probably a good idea. Purchasing an 8K-capable camera may not be in everyone's budget; however, inexpensive software such as Video AI from Topaz might be.
