The Chrome store is still showing: Version: 3.3.2

Is there another way to upgrade?

Thanks,

Phil.

@Phil I'm showing the new version here. Give it a bit to propagate to the AU store.

Hans,

OK it turned up but I couldn't force an update so I backed up:

~/.config/google-chrome/Default/Local\
Storage/chrome-extension_edacconmaakjimmfgnblocblbcdcpbko_0.localstorage*

(I have nightly backups as well) and then uninstalled the old version
and installed the new one . . but of course now I only have the current
session available . .

Can I extract the previous info from the saved sqlite DB and import all
my old sessions?

Thanks,

Phil.

Don't worry - after a bit of messing around including restoring from
backups etc, at one point, SB automatically updated . .

Hello Hans,

The new update looks wonderful, thank you!

BIG issue for me though...

I STILL cannot drag and drop saved sessions to re-order them. This is HUGE for me! Please consider adding this functionality to make session buddy truly complete!

But everything that you've done is fantastic, otherwise :-)

I would also love the ability to drag and drop windows in a session as well as being able to drag and drop individual pages within a window, within a session. Essentially, drog and drop to re-order across the entire app XD XD XD XD XD

This would be MASSIVELY amazing to have. I'm essentially using Session Buddy as a giant navigation and recall session manager for hundreds of google docs, and these drag and drop features would be fantastic to have :-)

I'll make a separate feature request post about this for you as well. :-)

Hans,

And another reminder (I know you haven't forgotten . . ) that it would
also be good to have a sort option in the sessions - Date/Time, Name,
maybe Numbers of Tabs in the Session? Even better with the clicking and
dragging, would be to be able to group the sessions into logical
sub-categories . .

Thanks again!

Phil.

Been using session buddy for about 3-4 months.. great, love it!
But today I go in to find my last 6 days has no history of tabs... wtf?
Yesterday at this same time I had them and today, nothing changed... no reboot, crash, etc.

@Andrew, I just learned that this bug may be related to the use of multiple Chrome profiles.

Working on a fix now, but I wanted to give you a heads up that if you noticed the 0-tab sessions after recently switching profiles, then switch back to the profile you were using for the 6 days prior to that to find your data in the SB installation associated with that profile.

You can use Export and Import (to/from clipboard) to copy sessions between the SB installations tied to the different profiles.

Love Session Buddy! It's reason #2 that I've completely switched to Google Chrome from Firefox. But since about April 1st SB seems to have stopped functioning correctly on all my computers.  I don't have previous sessions for the last two weeks. I'm signed in with the same Google profile across devices, and have tried signing out and back in. Still nothing. Any suggestions? Where did my sessions go?

Thanks,
Benton

Currently, SB data is stored locally only and doesn't sync across devices (sync is something we're working on).

Also, it's important to note if you're using multiple Chrome profiles that SB data is specific to a single Chrome profile.

AWESOME!!!

I use GoogleChromePortable, to load same version across computers  - using native virtualisation, I have several builds on one laptop, and vlc, chrome etc are portable and separate from the build.

Sync works great, as does restore open tabs. So I usually restore my browsing session, and organise content by browser-instance, so I have a window for multimedia stuff, one for sociability, one for google-fu...

Each window (to me) is a sub-session. I haven't restored or saved and sessions yet.

Is there a way of saving sub-sessions
Currently using session buddy to navigate between (and manage) tabs in windows...

Hope that makes sense! GREAT APP!

I just made the switch from TABCLOUD to SESSION BUDDY. Happy with SESSION BUDDY, but drawbacks exist:

1) Cannot save a single window with multiple tabs. Saving will always save all open windows as one session (can do this in TABCLOUD)
2) You have to open Session Buddy to save/open sessions/windows (TABCLOUD has a dropdown from the extension)
3) Saved sessions cannot be manually sorted (also a drawback of TABCLOUD)
4) Cannot edit a session (e.g. I start my day off at work with the same 10 tabs, but when a page moves or is updated, TABCLOUD allows you to remove a tab and replace it with an updated one)

Bottom line, TabCloud is too basic (but has the basic options covered), SESSION BUDDY is greatly robust but doesn't have basic TABCLOUD options. A blend would be perfect

Are there any plans to add the above?

We have plans to add 1, 3, and 4 (tab deletion is already supported, but we will make it easier to add a tab to a saved session).

2 is unlikely.

Hans, I love Session Buddy but I feel like there's just one thing that doesn't work for me.

I want to be able to import individual tabs to my saved sessions.

For example: If I have a saved session called "Socrates research" with 7 different websites saved there. Next day I find another website that's very helpful so I want to add it to the 7 websites I already have saved.

Right now I have to open all tabs and then add the new website to it and then save it.

Isn't there any way where I can avoid opening all the tabs and directly "inject" my new website into the saved websites list?

Hans, will there be a cloud backup function? I would love to be able to back up everything to Google Drive as a precaution for the day that I change computers.

Also, I know this one was mentioned, but being able to move items to other saved sessions would be awesome. And to make it better, if I could move multiple items at once and not one by one.

Another thing I would love to see, a multiple item delete function. Having to delete items one by one can be a hassle.

Hello,

This is extension is the main reason that I use chrome. I had a few suggestions / questions:

- You should try to update the UI so that it's more Material-Design like
- Is there any chance that you could port the extension for use with Microsoft Edge? (From what I understand, chrome extensions can easily be ported to Edge)

Keep up the good work!

That code hasn't changed recently so it may be a Chrome update that triggered the change in behavior. Is it consistent?

Sorry for the delay in replying Hans. The problem isn't consistent. I've overcome it for the time being by re-saving affected sessions again with the window maximized and that seems to work. I'm not sure the problem isn't at my end. Can you reproduce?

Real tab deleting in current session
In the Current Session list, the "X" button should delete a single specific tab not only in the session list but also in the real current window!
Fully I agree it is idiotic, it could make only an idiot ...Why did delusional feature - the removal of tabs in current session are deleted in reality browser, you idiots Before that, everything was ok?. Prior to this, you can quickly save session on various topics by deleting unnecessary tabs in the current session. Nearly the whole point is lost, the first time I've seen where the developer does worse than it was originally.

Dear Hans,

Do you perchance know why chrome has disabled Session Buddy? I depend on this app for my research and have noticed today, after having taken a break from my work since end July (2018) that my SB extension on Chrome has been removed and that Chrome has disabled the app even when I try to enable it.

If I am unable to reinstall SB, is there some way that I can recover all the Tabs which I had saved on SB? I have read through some of the chats and followed instructions from the website and was able to loacte:
 C:\Users\X\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\databases\chrome-extension_edacconmaakjimmfgnblocblbcdcpbko_0

However, how do I open this file or convert it to website links etc.? I am desperate to access my research again as my study depends on it.

I LOVE SB and I'm frustrated with Chrome! Why can't I use SB in Firefox? Or can I....?

I await your reoly in anticipation.

Regards,
MJ

Yeah, definitely still working on my setup too (same as Rosdi's). I'd love someone to port it to Firefox though. There's nothing else for Ff that works half as well as Session Buddy!

I would like to use it, as everytime shutdown we do not get restore tabs, but issue is that, this app allow modify password and username permission, and i dont want to allow it,
looks like this app is not secure , it should not have password modify permission.

thanks

Session Buddy does not have permission to modify passwords or usernames.

If you can provide the reasons for your assumption, I'm happy to further help clear up this misapprehension.

Hi,

I'm having a backup/restore problem as follows:

I go into Session Buddy (within Opera), create a backup and it saves as a .json file.
I then try to restore and a window pops up asking me to drag the file or paste text. If I select the .json file, nothing happens. I don't know what "text" I would paste and after nothing happens, the Session Buddy program stops working.

Can you help please qs I need to be able to create a backup and restore it.

Many thanks.

David
