I had already updated to v4. Things were already working
Been some weeks or so(i think) since i last opened session buddy- just now i open it and everything is gone.
Idk if there was some new update since i last opened, but SBs tab showed a 'whats new' icon wich led to release changes from JUNE... and i definetly used sessionbuddy since

My guess it just reseted, so its treating me as a new user.
Despite that the history is all there- only the saved sessions are gone.
You know, the ones that matter

I had some intense research sessions saved HOW CAN I RECOVER?
I imagine (hope) theyre still on the browser/plugin data folder right?
Or do crashes actually delete data?
(and if so why would it be coded that way?)

I dont know if i will keep with sessionbuddy frankly. Cant rely on it.
Not the first time something similar happened, but the other times there were reasons- big browser update, windows reset, things like that. Ive never had it just deleting everything on me out of the blue.

Also no crashes that i can recall- been some weeks so maybe my browser crashed and i dont remenber? Regardless i wasnt using sessionbuddy so why a crash would delete everything?

I cant describe how im feeling. Maybe im too depressed (already, my mental health is bad rn) to get desperate or angry. I just felt a profound disapointment. Im tired, of other things in life too, and karma/fate/luck for some reason throws that on top out of the blue precisely now just because...

Werent for idk how many hours and links idk if i will find again i wouldnt be posting this. My feeling was to just unninstall, move on. Find something else, start saving links locally by myself or whatever so i never have to face something like this again.

But i cant move on. I need those sessions... can someone help me?

ps: sorry for the small 'rant' i just needed to pour it out there

Sorry to hear this happened.

Given that some of your data is intact, it sounds like you've encountered a known Chrome bug. It's a bug that affects all extensions and Google is working on fixing it. In the meantime we're working on a backup solution to guard against such bugs. More details here:

Large/complex IDB randomly fails with DOMException: Failed to read large IndexedDB value [342779913] - Chromium
https://issues.chromium.org/issues/342779913

For now, try the following:

- open the Session Buddy console, refresh Session Buddy, and send a screenshot of any logged errors to sup...@sessionbuddy.com

- go to Settings > Other in Session Buddy, click "Save diagnostics", and send the downloaded file to sup...@sessionbuddy.com

- open the Session Buddy console and execute the following command: saveData()

This downloads all of your collections and history as json. Check that the file contains collections.

- sometimes the browser can recover successfully from this bug. Restart the browser and re-open SB to see if your data has returned. If that doesn't work, restart your computer.

Please respond to sup...@sessionbuddy.com, attach the error screenshot and diagnostics file and let me know if the saved data file contains collections.

Thanks,
Hans

Circling back around on this.

Any luck?

Were you able to complete any of the steps I outlined?

Hans
