Chrome extensions on updates may blank databases

These Chrome extensions may or not blank or empty associated data stores when Chrome updates are applied.  The mechanism could be compatibility which causes the extension to present an "extension needs repair". When "repaired"

 the extension could be reinstalled by Chrome's update process to reinstall the extension with a new empty data store.  Making consistent backups is key to minimise data loss.

Is new being  just 6-months old . It's a better starting point then several other such extensions for chrome. I use it to help with some of my vision issues. The author has established a solid technical base for future development. Clicking the left lower BTV icon opens a help page..

Combined tool set for web page development.  Chrome updates cause it to be tagged with a "repair needed" tag.  I haven't evaluated if the data store is altered.  It's reinstalled by users starting the repair process manually.

Session Buddy :  Saves, restores, tracks histories, & manages "Collections" of  saved session windows with tabs into structured databases

Well known for its many utility features, it manages collection histories of topic oriented session windows with contained tabs.  The latest V4 versions has a glitch.  It has been losing databases' content when Chrome's automated updates tag the extension as needing "repair".  Chrome's update process displays a "repair needed" message on SB's listed extension card along with an active repair button.  

The user must press the button to perform the repair.  Users are surprised when SB isn't repaired; rather a new SB install is performed.  The new install, as expected, creates empty databases, without warning. Valid historical database Collections are replaced with empty databases.  Users are not amused by the now blank SB displays. The current workaround is for users to make regular backups of the databases prior to Chrome's impolite automatic updates.  Importing procedures exist to repopulate the empty databases.

The fixes & feature improvements are currently being worked on for upcoming Session Buddy releases.
