OK, so the day before yesterday, my Google Chrome crashed, & when I opened it back up, none of my recent sessions were coming up.  Usually, this error corrects itself when I close & reopen Chrome again, but it didn't this time. :-( So, I went to Session Buddy to try & recover the lost sessions, but they were first opened before October 9, & I can't go back any further than that date to find my lost sessions. :-( (Even though I told SB in the options long ago, when I reinstalled the extension, that I wanted it to store events over the next 100 years!) I hope that the SB creator or someone else might have a way for me to go back past October 9. :-(

(Otherwise, I'll have to recreate them manually through my Google Activity...& that would take FOREVER to find & restore all those links, for several reasons.)

Sorry for the slow response. Your patience is very much appreciated, but please remember that this is a free product with over 1 million users. Many paid products don't even provide the level of support you're expecting.

I get that it's frustrating that SB isn't showing the history depth you're expecting to see. There may be multiple reasons for this.

Let's start here:

Open the SB console and run the following command: saveData()

This should download a file of all your data, including history. Either check it yourself to see if there's history going back further than Oct 9 or fwd it to sup...@sessionbuddy.com.

Also please run saveDiagnostics() and send that file to sup...@sessionbuddy.com.

Thanks,
Hans

OK, at first, I was totally confused, but after some digging around, I managed to find Session Buddy in the Sources panel of Developer Tools (hopefully, that's the right place to go!).  I then tried running the command saveData() for S.B., but no such command exists. :-( So, what do I do about that? I can't save my Session Buddy data (let alone do any of the other steps Hans suggested) without enabling the saveData() command. T_T

And one other problem I forgot to mention: Navigating the Developer Tools is so insanely difficult! :-( Which doesn't help matters, either.

You'll want to use the Console panel.

Check your Downloads folder after running the command.

So, where & what is the S.B. Console panel, exactly? And how do I access it? I am so totally confuzzled!

Hello Anastasia,

let me try to help you. (I am in no way affiliated with Session Buddy, just a former user).

1. Have the Session Buddy page in front of you
2. Open the DevTools. You can press F12 or Ctrl-Shift-I or use the menu in your browser.
3. Select the Console tab on top (the first tabs should be "Elements", "Console", "Sources" etc.)

When you have the right tab, you should be able to type stuff at the bottom where the ">" is on the left hand side.

4. Type the thing: saveData() (and press Enter)
5. A file should be downloaded to your download directory. That would be the export of your stuff. It is essentially the same as using the export button in the Session Buddy menu..

I doubt that it will bring any of your lost data back. The safest way to not lose data with Session Buddy (as I doubt the problem will be fully fixed anytime soon) is to export your stuff each and every time you save your sessions.

Let me know if you found the Console thing and if anything worked out for you.

Hope that helps.

Well, Hans said the saveData thing SHOULD download ALL of my data, so I personally think I have reason to be more optimistic. :-)

But, anyway, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! ^_^ Thanks to both you & Hans!

Sure, it will download all of the data that is still there. If it's gone (because, e.g. the database has been overwritten with a blank one), then, you know...

Well, I sent an E-mail to Support with my SaveData & SaveDiagnostics files, but have yet to receive a response...

So, I'm waiting to find everything out.

Do forgive me, Mr. Hans, but I sent you an E-mail with my saveData & saveDiagnostics files for inspection.  You haven't given me any response, & I just wondering if you're OK. :-(

UPDATE:
I just looked at my big S.B. history JSON file, & I think it just might have everything I thought I lost! :D I'll double check to make sure, but it seems like the problem has finally been solved! ^_^ Thank y'all so much for your help! :-)
