I've been using Session Buddy for a few months now and I used it yesterday. However, today when I click on the Session Buddy button it doesn't do anything. I right-clicked and if I choose Session Buddy or Manage it takes me to the Chrome App store (where it says I've already added it) and if I click on Options it says "Webpage not Found":

chrome-extension://edacconmaakjimmfgnblocblbcdcpbko/options.html
Error code: ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

Anyone know if somethings going on or what happened? Also any suggestions on how to fix it? I've tried closing and reopening.

Thanks

Hi Chad,

Try re-installing SB. Make sure to back up your user data file first so that you can then restore it into the new installation (see links below).

If you are still experiencing the problem after re-installing, send me the contents of your user data folder so I can diagnose and repair if necessary.

Hansifer,

Thanks for the help! I got SB to run again. However, I can't get at previous sessions still. I restored the user data file (chrome-extension_edacconmaakjimmfgnblocblbcdcpbko_0), restarted chrome, and still don't have previous sessions.

A few things that may or may not be important: 1) the file in the user data file before was titled "6" and is about 4MB, 2) the file in the user data file after I reinstalled SB was titled "9" and about 45KB, 3) I deleted the "9" file when I restored my old user data file, but I just checked and now there's both a "6" and a "9" present.

Try this:

1) shut down Chrome completely.
2) delete "9" (if that's still the more recent / 45 KB file)
3) rename "6" to "9"
4) restart Chrome

Let me know how that goes.

Hans

That got it working!

I'll also mention I watched the user data file while starting up chrome (already had a SB tab open) and for a half a second there was a "9-journal" file, but then it disappeared. Never watched the user data file before so I don't know if that's normal. Either way it works again!

You're the man Hans!
Thanks
Chad

Cool. Glad to hear it's fixed. Sorry you had issues with it in the first place.

Yes, the journal file is normal. It's used during a transaction to store rollback information so data can be restored to a consistent state after a crash or power loss interrupts the transaction.

Cheers,
Hans

Hans,

Just an FYI, I experienced this problem again same as before. I was able to resolve it by uninstalling, reinstalling, and replacing the user data file (which was titled "10" this time instead of "9" or "6" before) and it seems to work again.

I was curious if you knew if this would be a recurring problem or if there were updates that may have caused something?

Thanks
Chad

I'm not aware of anything that's changed recently that would cause this problem.

If it happens again, can you check the SB code folder before reinstalling. I'm wondering if something is deleting the code files.

To check the code folder:

Instead of the "databases" folder click through to the "Extensions" folder, then "edacconmaakjimmfgnblocblbcdcpbko", then "3.2.4_0". There should be 13 items (folders, .html files, etc) in this folder. If you then click through to the "js" folder, there should be 19 items in there.

Hans
