Hello SB Support,

I lost all my Chrome SB session collections (150+) just a few days after latest SB v4 installed and not able to recover them. Could you plz. assist me to restore them from chrome-extension_edacconmaakjimmfgnblocblbcdcpbko_0 file (in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\databases) as "Restore previous versions" is not running due the fact that "there is no previous version available". I do have sub-folder named "2" that is ~73MB in size that probably have all my collections. Your assistance is much appreciated - Thanks in advance!

Thanks & Regards,
Blaz

Be sure to save that database file named "2"

A migration tool will be made available to convert a v3 database file to a file that can be imported into v4.

Quick question. Is it required to close the browser to make the backup? I backed up just in case, but then noticed that website recommends closing the browser first. But now I guess the old database is not in use anymore, so that's not a requirement on v4?

Nope, no need to close the browser when copying the v3 database file.

Would it be possible to have a migration tool to go from v4 database/backup file to v3?

Technically possible sure, but SB v3 is officially deprecated now.

Hi Hans,

Thank you very much for getting back to me so quickly! I made a backup! Actually I made backups, as I have two profiles (Default) and Profile 3 (for this Win 10 user - one Default is a personal chrome profile and Profile 3 is kind of a bus. chrome profile.

On my bus. profile, I do have around ~100 collections and I still can see them all (olde ones and a few new ones too) in SB v4.  In my personal Default profile I was able to see my old ones only once when SB v4 was installed and after that I've got messages that I am not able to save any new collections (whenever I tried) .  Second day after v4 was installed, I wasn't able to see any of my old collection but I was able to create a few new ones and can see just them (no old ones ~150++) .

I made one experiment: I made backups for both profiles and moved my default profile database file named "2" to Profile 3 and renamed it to "1" ( as Profile 3 has a database file named "1" . I restarted chrome browser and machine as well for both profiles and am not able to see my Default profile collections in my Bus Profile 3, I still see the Profile 3 collections (old ones from Profile 3 as well as new ones for Profile 3 only). It is very strange that Profile 3 can still see the previous Profile 3 collections (old and new ones) but cannot see any Default profile collections, even though I completely replaced database file"1".

I am hoping that this script will solve the issue. For my own curiosity, do you have any idea when the script will be available? Once again, your assistance with this matter is very helpful and much appreciated!

Thanks & Best Regards,
B
