Help!
All of a sudden Session Buddy will not appear when I press the button on the top Right. When I hover the pointer over the button it says, "Session Buddy 1 of 5 Tabs Hidden". It appears as it normally does when it is working fine.
When I left for work yesterday afternoon it worked fine. I returned home to the still-on computer (which no one uses but myself)- it would now do nothing when the button is clicked. Closing & reopening Chrome does not help. Rebooting the PC does not help.

I am using Chrome Version 26.0.1410.43 m & Session Buddy v 3.2.1

Chrome works normally in every other way. All additional extensions used appear to function normally. I have not made any setting changes or any changes recently. I have not added any new extensions in about a week & a half. It worked fine all that time frame, numerous reboots- right up until last night.
Please advise.

Thanks,
John R.

Hi John, try the following:

- close Chrome
- open Chrome and click on SB icon
- Go to Chrome's Extension page (chrome://extensions/)
- ensure Developer mode checkbox at top of page is checked
- scroll to SB line item
- click on background.html link of SB line item
- in Developer Tools window that opens, click on Console at top
- copy all text in console window and paste into your response to this message

Also, have you by chance done a windows system restore recently?

Thanks,
Hans

Good Morning,

I did everything you mentioned above.
The console window is blank: just a caret &  blinking cursor

>_

I have not done a Windows System Restore recently.

Thanks,
John R.

What happens when you right-click on the SB icon, then click Options?

You might also want to try reinstalling SB. Make sure to make a copy of your SB data folder before you do so.

Okay. What do you think caused this? I wasn't even home when whatever happened happened. I live alone. No one else uses the computer. It worked fine at 1130a. It didn't work at 1015p.

Just noticed your first question about Right-Clicking.

Right-Click Menu appears:

Session Buddy (leads to Chrome Store Install page)
--------
Options
Remove from Chrome
Hide Button
-----------
Manage Extensions
-----------
Inspect Popup (greyed out)

Selecting Options cause a blank page to open.

Chrome might have auto-updated SB to v3.2.1 during that time, as I released that update the day before. I've seen extension updates not complete cleanly in some cases and lead to problems such as a blank SB tab, but a Chrome restart usually remedies the issue.

Let me know if an SB reinstall clears things up. I can also walk you through porting your backed-up SB data to the resinstalled version, if necessary.

I've run into this same problem.  It seemed to correlate with Chrome upgrading to r26 for me.

If I click on the SB icon, nothing happens.  If I right-click and then select Options, a blank page is shown.  The Console tab for background.html shows nothing (although see below).

I tried uninstalling and the reinstalling SB, with no luck.

It DOES seem to work sometimes if a disable it and the re-enable it, although it's not consistent and it requires waiting a while (on the order of minutes).  HOWEVER, even when the session page does show, some things don't work (e.g. clicking "OK" when saving a session).

I DID manage to see some output a couple times in the Console tab for background.html (don't know if it's related).  I think this was before I re-installed SB:

  1. Array[4]

    1. 0: SQLError

      1. code: 5

      2. message: "could not prepare statement (1 no such table: UserSettings)"

      3. __proto__: SQLError

        1. CONSTRAINT_ERR: 6

        2. DATABASE_ERR: 1

        3. QUOTA_ERR: 4

        4. SYNTAX_ERR: 5

        5. TIMEOUT_ERR: 7

        6. TOO_LARGE_ERR: 3

        7. UNKNOWN_ERR: 0

        8. VERSION_ERR: 2

        9. constructor: function SQLError() { [native code] }

        10. __proto__: Object

    2. 1: "UserSettings"

    3. 2: "appMode"

    4. 3: false

    5. length: 4

    6. __proto__: Array[0]

  2. log4javascript.js:1421

I also saw the following sqlite errors in Chrome's output at some point.  I think this was also before I re-installed SB, although I forget.  I don't know if they're caused by SB, but they seem similar to what someone posted elsewhere in this group (https://groups.google.com/d/msg/sessionbuddy-discuss/ohfq5hAQ6Lk/zpDZXeAUIloJ):

I've played around with this a little more.  I can give more data points, although I don't know if they're actually helpful.
  1. If I run Chrome from scratch, clicking on the SB icon does nothing (as I mentioned in my first post).
  2. If I Ctrl-Shift-Q and run Chrome again, it works.  Note that when I quit Chrome like this, some chrome processes stick around.
  3. If, after Ctrl-Shift-Q, I first kill all the chrome processes that stuck around, it's like running from scratch (SB doesn't work).
  4. The "sqlite" errors are shown in step #2, where SB actually works.
All those seem to occur consistently.  It's strange to me that the sqlite errors seem to actually predict success, but maybe that's because the failure case is actually failing before those get hit?

Thanks for the detailed message. Unfortunately, I don't know what's causing the problem.

I would completely re-install Chrome and Session Buddy. Make sure you back up the SB data folder first.

It took me awhile to get around to it, but I was able to get Session Buddy to run again correctly, tonight. Had to uninstall it & Chrome, new reinstall. Restored Db, all old links intact.
I've noticed Chrome is quicker now, too.
Thanks.
