Hey Session 7!!!

I am the director of a really amazing program starting Winter Quarter and I would LOVE to see some Session 7 representation!

The class is called ART ( Action Research Teams) is run through UCLA's Institute of the Environment and Sustainability (IOES). The class is a 2-quarter commitment (~ 3 hrs/wk) and counts as either 2 or 3 units  depending on if you are a team leader or member. This "class" is unlike any you have taken before because it is 100% student run. How it works is you are on a team with 6 or 7 other UCLA students and for 2 quarters you are in charge of driving a project beginning-to-end that deals with an issue of sustainability on campus. For example, if you are really into composting (who isn't right?!) then you could be on a team that works directly with UCLA ORL to research the viability of introducing a full scale composting system in the dorms and see it become a reality by the end of the year!
Even if you are not a self-proclaimed tree -hugger and would just like to meet other UCLA students from other areas of campus and put something REALLY impressive on your resume... this class is for you!!!

If all of this was not incentive enough... if you take this class, I will be your teacher!  WOOOHOOO ( automatic A+?)

Below are some more details but feel free to call/txt/email me if you have any questions about ART ! 760.845.5657!  You can also look at the course description listed under Env 185 B/C on UCLA's Registrar

Are you interested in making real sustainable changes on campus?  If so, consider applying to the ART Program!

Action Research Team (ART) is an exciting 2-quarter program for academic credit offered through the Education for a Sustainable Living Program and the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability.  The goal of the program is to have a collaborative effort between student researchers, administrators, staff, and faculty to implement tangible sustainable changes to UCLA’s campus–-to make our school a model campus and a national leader in sustainability.

Applications are currently open for undergraduates who are interested in either being a team leader or member and graduate students who are interested in being more active in sustainability.  Applications are due November 4th, at 5pm and can be found at www.eslp-la.com.  For more information, please attend our information session Friday, October 28th from 4-5pm in the IoES Conference Room (3rd Floor LaKretz) or send us an e-mail at la....@gmail.com.
