Hey Woodseys!

          We're kicking off the camp season again! Attached are the 2011-2012 applications for the Older Camper Programs (OCP) in UniCamp: UniCorps, WALL and SAIL.

All three applications will be due no later than 1PM on Saturday, October 29th 2011. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us. Our contact info is located on the applications. An info session has also been planned for Wednesday evening of next week. More details to follow.

Here's information about all three programs:

UniCorps is a chance for a high school aged campers to have an experiential education, where they will be taught that there is "gaining in giving."  It is a service-learning program in which participants will assist on-site staff in pre-meal setup, post-meal cleanup, lodge cleanup, as well as breaking down the lodge for programs that will be run during the evening. Participants will also assist the campers in cleaning showers and restrooms, as well as keeping the campsite clean and maintained.

W.A.L.L. stands for Wilderness Adventures in Leadership and Learning. This leadership learning program teaches participants the importance of teamwork and perseverance throughout a physically and mentally demanding 4 day, 26 mile hike that reaches altitudes of 11,500 feet. Participants are given responsibilities during the hike that help them build leadership skills and they also learn outdoor survival skills.

S.A.I.L. Sailing Adventures Inspiring Leadership (SAIL) is a leadership learning program aimed to teach its teenage participants the importance of teamwork and perseverance through a physically and mentally demanding week of sailing. Participants are given responsibilities during the week that help them build communication, decision-making, and planning skills while improving their sailing and aquatics skills. Upon completion of this unique sailing experience, campers will return to their communities as stronger leaders because of their developed teamwork skills, open- mindedness in their own abilities, and eager to take initiative with the direction of their own life and the lives of those who surround them.
