working on release items

I've been slowly working on this whenever I get a spare moment this
summer:

The project theme which is expressed visually with a tree view is
trickier to implement than I thought, so I have been puzzling through
that lately.

I hope to have things more defined this month. If there is an area you
are working on and it still feels vague, feel free to email me for
more questions.

This should be in better shape now. Each section has descriptions of
what things should look like, at least to some degree. Please have a
look at this wiki page. If we complete this, we should have an 0.3
release ready for testing.
