The monitor has turned out to be quite dirty, with most of the dirt refusing to clean off with a cloth and IPA - I'll have to try other ways later. But what is the most important - it works! Yes, the tube is quite worn out and has some burn-in (more of which later), but it still works! Now, the first thing I noticed after connecting it up is how smooth its default 85 Hz feel versus my daily driver LCD's 60. I remembered how in 2013 I switched from my PC and this monitor to my then-new laptop and its crappy 60 Hz TN panel, and how hard it become to dominate with Scout in TF2, despite having a wider screen. I didn't understand why then, and only after emergence of high refresh rates in gaming and people talking how much better 120/144 Hz will make you in competitive shooters, I finally understood. Except in my case it was only 85 Hz.
Another thing I have noticed after the sky went progressively darker is how good the contrast can be, when compared to my IPS daily driver, a semi-professional iiyama ProLite XUB2395WSU. Of course, it is not reaching OLED levels, but still very impressive to see in such an old technology, while OLED is comparatively new and still suffers from flaws.
