SpeedSpot Wi-Fi finder app has a collection of thousands of Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide and, it rates these hotspots based on their speeds. A Wi-Fi hotspot is judged on the following factors and then added to the database.
SpeedSpot Wi-Fi finder also includes the Offline W-iFi Maps feature. Using this feature, you can download the maps of the regions you intend to travel to in the future. When you are low on data, you can access these maps to find Wi-Fi hotspots near you.
Another factor that sets apart SpeedSpot Wi-Fi finder is its color-coded icons next to the Wi-Fi hotspots. These icons depict what a particular Wi-Fi hotspot can help you do, send emails, browse the internet, or social media, gaming, video conferencing, video streaming, and more. This technique makes it easy to find the Wi-Fi near you that offers the same internet quality that you need at the moment.
A unique feature of this Wi-Fi finder app is that it tests all the hotspots in its database based on speed; later, you can see the Wi-Fi hotspot lists sorted based on speed and stability. This way, you have complete freedom to choose a Wi-Fi hotspot that offers sufficient bandwidth to help you do your task. This approach implements transparency to some extent so that you do not end up with a slow WI-Fi hotspot.
Scaner is working via USB but is not working via wifi. When using MF Scan Utility, I can see only Canon MF643 USB and when trying to scan without cable I receive Pop Up " Cannot communicate with any of the scanners. The scanners may not be connected, or may be turned off.". Also you cannot find scanner in Printers and Scanner. Only Printer.
I am assuming that you have a wifi device in your laptop. Its a fair assumption, but hot a given. You could be connected via a wired connection to a router. If that were to be the case, nothing I can say would help you.
But you could use LinSSID (sudo apt-get install linssid) . Run it in privileged mode (ie, via: sudo linssid). It needs sudo because it goes to the device driver of your wifi device and puts it in to what is known as promiscuous mode. That way it can listen to any device that is out there and which your device can see. It has a graphical interface, so its pretty easy to understand.
One word of caution. I don't know for certain, because I have a wired interface that I am using, plus I have a wifi device that I generally don't use (it was free on the motherboard!). But if you are using the wifi as a general interface to the outside world, you may find that you lose connectivity when doing a scan. I can't be certain, and it may be device dependent, but it is a possibility.
Pick your favourite text editor (such as nano) and at the bottom of the file, under all of the comments, add @reboot nohup sudo /usr/bin/python /home/pi/presence.py & to run the presence.py script. If you named your script something else or put it in a different directory, replace /home/pi/presence.py with the correct path. Then, under that, add */5 * * * * /usr/bin/sudo -H /usr/local/bin/checkwifi.sh >> /dev/null 2>&1 to run the checkwifi.sh script. Exit crontab and reboot the Pi to run your new presence detector!
Hello! I used scanner behind 1043ND router that worked like charm.
Then I found some ZSUN card readers that were not used, so I decided to convert scanner to wifi scanner. Everything went ok.
Got Openwrt 18.06 compiled and installed.
lsusb command shows my scanner:
It seems like something? is blocking the access to it? Or some ports are closed from WAN connection?
I converted my printer to wifi with the other zsun card reader that I had and this is working like charm, just opened one port 9100 from wan. Does anybody know what could block it?
A WiFi finder can be a small, portable, battery operated device that locates wireless hotspots so computer users don't have to turn on their computers to see if a network is available. Instead, colored lights on the device indicate whether or not an Internet network is accessible. The most basic model is about the size of a computer mouse, though there are also very small keychain models. Another type of WiFi® finder can be an application that is downloaded to a smart phone, usually for free, and serves the same purpose as a physical finder. Instead of flashing lights to indicate Internet access, a message is sent to the phone alerting users of available networks in the area.
Most WiFi finders have a single button and three or more LED lights. Depressing the button starts the device searching for WiFi signals, and if no networks are detected after several seconds, the LEDs will usually remain off. In most models, a weak signal will initiate one light, while the strongest signal initiates all LEDs; if only one light is steady, it is usually possible to head in a direction that causes more LEDs to light up. When the lights flash, it most often means that the signal is intermittent or weak. Some devices can connect directly to a network.A more expensive WiFi Finder might have additional capabilities to make things even easier; for example, one available model is built like a small flip phone, where the flipped end acts as a rotating, high-gain antenna, making it easy to hone in on the direction of the signal and head towards that area. Once a network is located, the USB port on this model allows the user to attach the WiFi finder to a computer and instantly connect to the network, eliminating the step of configuring each hotspot in the laptop's wireless interface. Furthermore, the advanced WiFi finder can indicate whether or not a network is secure, saving time and hassle. Once the device is connected to the USB port, its batteries are recharged, eliminating the need to replace them.
Just as a Global Positioning System (GPS)can be a physical device or downloaded to a smart phone, a WiFi finder also has both options. Many phone application options exist for Internet finders, and most of them are free to download from the Internet. Most applications will alert the user, via text message, of free and pay-to-use networks, but there is often an option to search for only free networks. Once a network is found and selected, the user is automatically connected. Some applications have other options such as searching lists and maps of networks in other areas, which can be convenient when traveling to new places.
The best thing about WiFi finders is that they tell you the strength of each network. So if you're connected to a network that has a weak signal, but there is an alternative, you can find it with the finder. It won't tell you the physical location of it, but the signals sort of serve that purpose.ZipLineNovember 24, 2013Does the WiFi finder only locate hotspots with public access or does it locate all WiFi, including WiFi modems at homes?
Small size and handy construction provide convenient operation of the Mobile phones and WiFi finder. In favorable conditions (no jamming signals and non-standard housing) the range of the device is even 50 meters which allows to locate the surveillance easily, even in large area rooms (haals, conference halls, offices). Each of the detected activity has a date, time, transmission length and graphic interpretation marking. The detector allows to save up to 4000 trasnsmissions with an information package. The further analysis and data archiving is enabled by a possibility of transferring it to the hard drive by USB connection.
