Activities for the academic year 2010-11

Hi Friends,
We need to plan our activities for the academic year 2010-11. We are already into the early days of the new academic year.
For the past few years we have been providing school children, from different schools, with school uniform,books,slates etc....But,merely providing uniform,books are not helping our motto.We need your valuable thoughts and ideas on how to move ahead this academic year.
Our work,the previous year has been a mix a different activities in different diversities.Many of you can say that, our group has has been doing well. But,we need to have a serious introspection into the activities we have been taking up.We need to work on the way we are working with the schools.We need to be more pro-active while working up with schools.
1)Providing uniform for school students
Some of the group members feel that,we can move away from providing school uniform and books to students of the schools.We need to weigh the pros and cons accurately.Providing school uniform to the under privileged students of the particular school brings in a sense of equality (psychologically children tend to have a sense of feeling that they don't have proper uniform).In present day scenarios,buying books would not be a major factor for most of the students.
Moving to the other side of the issue.One of our friend had posed an interesting question. In what we are helping the children by providing school uniform and books ? We need to think into it.Providing uniform and books would just last for an year.So we need to work on the aspects which can have profound affect on the way children tend to learn.Such things can make them face challenges of life.We need to start working on their mental aspect i.e helping the students in one way or the other way of their studying. We have different solutions in this aspect.Like providing a dedicated library to the school,taking up sessions to the school children etc...
My opinion is that we need to have right balance.We need to disband the idea of providing school uniform completely.Let's do it requirement basis.Previously,we used to select a school and provide uniform for 20-25 students of the school.Let's remove it and work up on new guidelines for doing it.We need feedback of all the members of the group regarding,finer aspects of working models with different schools.
2)Financial assistance for students
We need to have guide lines in providing assistance for students i.e on what basis we need provide financial assistance ? We need to have these guidelines because,we cannot say yes to all.Their might be some problem with members,where help sought for particular students,requested by member. cannot provided due to different reasons.Guidelines would sort out such ambiguities.
Moving ahead from previous year work, we need to respect some of our previous commitments despite change in our ideologies.
1)We need to work with management of MBUP School, Ibrahimpatnam.
I personally feel that,the area in and around the MBUP school has changed a lot in the last few years.The area has witnessed a vast development .Providing free education in such area would seriously harm our group's motto. But,as we are committed to it,moving back is not that easy.We need to look into lot of factors.The school management has an idea of moving to some other place.I need to have a chat with the school management.
2)We have been paying 50% of the school fee for the poor students studying in the KVV school,Kanchiraopally. In the previous academic year, there were 17 students.
From the previous year purchases,we are left out with books,which would suffice for 200 students and uniform would suffice for 20 students.
We need to pay 15000 for the management of MBUP school,Ibrahimpatnam and 16000 for the management of the KVV school,Kanchiraopally.
We need to pour in fresh thoughts and ideas into our group activities.Kindly drop in your valuable suggestions on all the above issues.
Kindly help the group serve better, by posting your suggestions on various issues stated above.
