Can someone recommend specific Ruby and gem versions to use that will
most limit the changes to book code required to actually follow the
examples?

The material in the book is great, and it's easy to read. However,
attempting to follow along with Ruby 1.9.2 and RSpec 2.1.0 has thus
far been a futile effort for me.

So, I welcome either specific versions or guidance on how to update
book code to match today's versions of the tools.

Thanks in advance.

Similarly stuck and frustrated and would also appreciate if the author
would let us know which gems he's running so I can create a similar
environment in RVM.

Hey Everyone, sorry for not getting back quicker. Was completely tied
up at RubyConf. I can update the code examples on github later this
week to work with the latest stuff (1.9.2 and Rails 3.0 where
appropriate). Are there specific examples that are giving people
trouble? I can look into those sooner. I'll have time on Wednesday
evening and this coming weekend.

Thanks,
Paul

Similar experience. Paul, please let us know when are you planning to
update the code samples. I have time set apart this week for Ruby. I
will appreciate quick turnaround. Just bought the book on Kindle
today, I like the flow once I can build the examples it should be a
fun ride.

Sorry for the delay everyone. I swear on all that is holy that I'll
set aside time to update code. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get
to it until Saturday though. grrr... kicking myself for not explicitly
setting gem versions....

Ok, I've updated the code examples in Chapter 1 to use the latest gem
versions. Also, I've included a gemfile so going forward new gem
versions shouldn't break anything. You'll just be able to bundle
install to get the right ones.

Code here:

README for chapter 1 code:

I'll be updating the other code examples more today and in the coming
week. Let me know if there are any issues.

Thanks,
Paul
