DESCRIPTION:
- Supporting Oracle, MongoDB, SQL server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift, Aurora, Splunk, InfluxDB and TeraData databases
- Installing, migrating, automating and supporting a variety of AWS hosted (Both RDBMS & NoSQL) databases in RDS, EC2 using CFT.
- Setting up full monitoring stack for database / server / application/cpu/memory/disk/etc using open source software’s like CollectD(daemon to collect statistics), Graphite and InfluxDB(to store time-series data), Grafana(graphical dashboard), Zabbix and Splunk.
- Excellent communication skills
- Supporting multiple DBMS platforms in Production/QA/UAT/DEV in both on premise and AWS cloud environments.
- Extensively using SQL Profiler and Query Tuning Wizard to troubleshoot problems and queries.
- Supporting the installation, development, maintenance and enhancement of PostgreSQLon premise, AWS RDS and EC2 to support the Agile development teams for the mission critical production systems.
- Proficient in SQL, PL/SQL, Query Optimization using optimizer hints, Explain plan, SQL trace, Auto trace, TKPROF, SQL Analyzer.
- Used Erwin Data Modeling tool and maintaining the database in sync with the data model.
- Supporting in database administrative side of SQL Server 2005/2008/2012/2014.
- Worked in setting up and analyzing the logs using pgBadger for PostgreSQL monitoring and encryption using pgcrypto and analyzing pg_ system catalogs.
- Helping the migration from Oracle and SQL Server databases to open source PostgreSQL database.
- Coordinates and supports processes and reports for acquisition, creation, upgrade, migration, deployment and retirement of RDBMS software components/assets.
- Performs specialized tasks related to the unique design of the database infrastructure. Designs & implements processes and procedures, partnering with different business units to provide improved support and customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Responsible for support activities for the database platform and related subsystems to ensure the security and stability of the environment
- As a gatekeeper to production, reviews, coordinates and implements changes, assess the effectiveness of the environment, recommends and follows through on implementation of improvements.
- Maintains record keeping on infrastructure hardware, database & software inventory.
- System & job monitoring, health-checks to ensure the overall well-being of the DB systems, develop, improve and manage reactive and proactive system tools.
- Process development and improvement, automation, documentation, delegation, Engineering and special projects.
