I've been following this project for a bit: https://disaster.radio/

It's LoRa mesh on 433/ 816/ 915 Mhz.

I thought some of the routing/ mesh stuff may be of interest for range extenders. https://githhub.com/sudomesh/disaster-radio/wiki/Protocol

The devices can be purchased pre-flashed here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000396836096.html

They sip power and will boot directly from a 15w USB solar panel with no battery.
