Hi All,

 

Please find attached notes from the meeting held in October.  Many Thanks to Michael Frean for arranging the venue and one of the guest speakers and also thanks to Yvonne Pick and Nina Jago for the excellent presentations.

 

Over the next few days and into the new year I will be sending out e-mails to set next years meeting themes and to arrange some dates, so please look out for these and respond as soon as you can so that we can keep this network moving forward.

 

If I don't speak to you in person over the next week or so, I wish you all a happy Christmas and a prosperous new year.

Hi all,

 

I hope you are all well.

 

I am writing to gather some advice from you all; I hope you are able to help me.

 

We had a meeting with Grant Finder yesterday, and I believe that some of your organisations are using this product.

 

I am seeking some advice about this software and the time and resource that you put into it.

Can you please let me know the following?

·         Are you using Grant finder?

·         Do you find it a useful tool?

·         Have you been successful in applications, if so how many?

·         Does your organisation have a dedicated person to write funding bids? If not how much time do you or your team put in to writing bids in a month?

Hi Michelle   We don’t use Grant Finder but use Grants Online. They send us regular updates on external funding opportunities and it’s  quite good, simple to use.   The question you or your organisation should be asking is are you funding led or funding fed? ie Do you define what you want to do through needs appraisal and business planning etc and then seek to deliver this through external funding, or do you see a funding opportunity and decide to bid  be because you like the sound of it.     We’re quite a small organisation, with just over 30 staff, and 3000 properties so before we apply for any external funding need to ensure we have capacity to deliver the project.   We don’t have a dedicated external fundraiser. Recent successful funding applications I have written include the Family Intervention Project and match funding for CAB debt advice and other staff have worked on other bids    I hope this helps   Regards Michael
