Hi all, I am a programmer for a living. I strongly believe that no kid should be subject to this bullshit... As such, I have created a simple script that temporarily suspends the qustodio service on any windows based PC for a half-hour. (Length easily modified)
Your parents can easily tell if you tamper with qustodio, therefore my script does not tamper with the installation in any way. My script will not remove qustodio, it will just make qustodio think your computer is offline while it is running.
The script has a 30 minute countdown before it automatically turns qustodio back on. This is to protect you from your parents finding out. If you leave qustodio disabled, your parents will realize they are not getting any activity which is an obvious giveaway that qustodio is not running.
If you wish for this solution to last, only use this sparingly when you do not want your parents to see a specific activity or you want to access somthing they have blocked. When you are done, you can press enter inside the script to start qustodio back up. I advise you to do this every time your finished "sneaking around" so to speak, as the more time qustodio is disabled, the more obvious it is you are bypassing it.
You can close the script once it finishes disabling qustodio if you need longer than 30 minutes. Just run the script again to start qustodio back up. THIS IS RISKY! DO NOT FORGET TO START IT BACK UP OR YOU WILL BE CAUGHT!
Your parents likely use the qustodio feature that shows them how much time you spend on your computer, they can see how much of each hour of each day was spent on your computer. If you use this script, you will lower the amount of usage time your parents see, and they may catch on. So to reiterate, my advice is to let your parents run qustodio most of the time, only use this on occasion, in short bursts.
Once you are done you can and should delete the new admin account you made so your parents dont see it. (They can see what users are on your computer from qustodio, so do not leave it) (they can not tell if your account is admin or limited from qustodio)
The best way to avoid the issue, though, is to make sure you have the timezone set properly before installing Qustodio. Which I forgot to do this time.The reason Qustodio does this is that it has parental controls that govern access time windows for user accounts on the PC. (So if the user could change the timezone, they could circumvent this control.)
