Building on what I've said in the past couple posts, we haven't heard
about Penelope since Percy graduated, have we?

What if Percy is like Odysseus, trying to return home after many years
"abroad"? He parted ways with his own family, took up a job as the
assistant to the Minister of Magic, and moved out of the house. He
returned the sweater/jumper he received most-recently. Apparently the
only reason he visited his family during Christmas in 1996 (HBP) was
because Scrimgeour expected to confront Harry at the Burrow. It isn't
a matter of gods and goddesses treating him as a plaything -- he's
keeping himself away from his family home.

We don't know if he's keeping in touch with Penelope. Perhaps he is
trying to raise the means to marry and "keep" her. However, right now
I think he is so focused on the ministry that he wouldn't take any
time with Penelope, either.

Like her mythological counterpart, is Penelope Clearwater dutifully
waiting for Percy to "come round"? Is she turning other suitors or
would-be-suitors away, just because she wishes to remain loyal to
Percy?
