Professor Flitwick -- short, white-haired, high-voiced professor of
Charms and Head of Ravenclaw house.

He's a good guy, right?

I'm not so sure. Here are a few reasons:

1. When McGonagall brings out the stool and Sorting hat, the stool has
4 legs, like one fr each house. But when Flitwick is seen with the
Sorting Hat and stool, it now only has three legs, symbolic of another
rift between the houses.

2. When Flitwick first sees Harry's name on his roll call list he
sqeaks (like a rodent) and falls off his stack of books. This reminds
me of how nervous Quirrell acts around everyone just before and during
Harry's first year at Hogwarts. With Quirrel it was just an act, to
seem incapable of harming Harry or of joining Voldemort. Is Flitwick's
over-reaction also an act?

3. When Hermione tries to get permission into the Restricted Section
of the Hogwarts library, it's Flitwick who writes the permission slip.
He's attitude of "levity" (how Charming...) keeps him from asking
Hermione serious questions about why she needs into the Restricted
Section. He knows those books are full of info on the Dark Arts.
Flitwick assuming Hermione just needs to research for an essay is too
much like Slughorn discussing horcruxes with young Tom Riddle based on
the very same pretext -- research. True, Hermione has good intentions,
but still....

4. Flitwick tries to force some sweets on Harry, Sqeaking Sugar Mice.
Is this a hint that Flitwick is a spy? Are the sweets laced with
anything?

I'll post more on this later.
