Hey Jeff,
I've been reading up on this. Here's a post on Facebook:
"Posted to Facebook:
International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation
Attention Professors,
New IBJJF rule regarding tournament registrations.
All academies need to be certified in order to have its students competing in any IBJJF event.
...If your academy is not certified yet, please contact
membe...@ibjjf.com
Thank you, IBJJF staff"
Would this mean that Serafin BJJ needs to be registered with the IBJJF? If that's the case and we want to do the Chicago Open, would we just put "McVicker?"
Here's a response from the IBJJF:
"In order to certify your academy you need to have a black belt who is a member of IBJJF as a head instructor.
Is your black belt a member already? If yes, you just have to fill out
the form I send attached, ask the head instructor to sign and email it
back to me with the payment.
The fee is $50.00 and you can pay it with a check or money order in name of BJJ International.
You can mail us the payment together with the application form to the address"
