Sequel Pro hangs and pauses

For the past couple weeks, I have begun encountering hangs and pauses when clicking on tables and views in Sequel Pro. This database has been working fine for years, so I have to assume it's due to some recent change in a Sequel Pro nightly.

For instance, I will look up some stuff in one table, let it sit for a while, then switch to another table. I get a spinner with an overlay window saying it's loading the table (which in itself is unreasonable since my tables are pretty small), but it never finishes. Or, I'll get a dialog saying: "Error. The table data couldn't be loaded. MySQL said: Query execution was interrupted," with an OK button that doesn't work. In the latter case, I can quit Sequel Pro, so it isn't hung. In the former, sometimes I can quit, but most times I have to force quit. I can't think of any reason why the fetch of a new table should be "interrupted" -- certainly it isn't anything I'm doing.

I haven't had any respite from this problem.  Sequel Pro worked perfectly for me for years, but for the past few months I have been unable to switch tables more than about a half dozen times in a session before it hangs in this fashion.

I thought perhaps I might upgrade to the most recent MySQL and that might fix it… but the only difference was that when Sequel Pro hangs, the Quit command is now more likely to work (before I had to force-quit it almost every time).

This is a problem with Sequel Pro, not MySQL -- when all I do is click on the name of a table and Sequel Pro eithr gives me a gray spinner box saying "Loading table-name" (forever), or throws up a dialog box saying:

  Error

  The table data couldn't be loaded.

  MySQL said: Query execution was interrupted  [OK]

…and the OK box doesn't do anything (not even bounce when you press it), this points to an issue with Sequel Pro.

I really could use some help with this.  I'm tired of having to quit and restart Sequel Pro because it freezes every three minutes.

This happens a lot to me too. Sequel Pro hangs and crashes on simple select queries in small tables that take fraction of a second to generate. It sometimes happens frequently where Sequel Pro is nearly unusable, other times it happens occasionally. I can't pin it down to a particular variable but the Internet connection may have something to do with it (oddly enough, more hangs and crashes on the university network).

In my case, both the database and Sequel Pro are on the same laptop, so it isn't a networking problem (unless it's a localhost networking problem, which I wouldn't think is likely).
