Yes,  see the job offer for a Chief Executive Officer: https://jobs.chronicle.com/job/37961678/chief-executive-officer
"The salary is expected to be around $300,000, though the actual salary offered may differ."

The Science article also mentioned it:

On social media, a few scientists have raised concerns about the proposed $300,000 salary for arXiv’s new CEO, saying it seemed high. (ArXiv [sic] disagrees.)

Sounds like a bargain to me considering how valuable arXiv is to math and science.  Don't CS grads get offers in that neighborhood for entry-level positions these days?  arXiv's new CEO may have to pull some rabbits out of hats like Elon Musk did, and everyone knows what that guy makes.

In the limit over a long period of time, what proportion of total computing
resources will be required for AI agents devoted to detecting and rejecting
unreliable slop generated by all the other AI agents?  (Erm ... maybe also
including themselves.)  Now then --- which AI agent should I consult ...

Thanks for the compliment Fred.  I can't speak for Bob but am flattered you think my writing is AI-caliber in March 2026.  Regarding your question, last I heard the universe cools arbitrarily close to absolute zero over time, so in the limit it cools to zero.  You better confirm this with an AI though, for I'm not an astrophysicist.

I am afraid my aperçu may have been misinterpreted here:
I did not intend to suggest that any other contributions were deficient.

There is a very real possibility that the current AI frenzy will cause
extensive collateral damage to many of our most valuable resources,
and this thread draws attention to one case I hold in particular regard!

Oops, sorry I see what you meant now.  Thanks for clarifying - I'd forgotten that AI slop was mentioned in the OP.  Mark

This discussion isn't remotely related to the OEIS or sequences. I hate to be the "wrong channel" guy, but isn't this against the rules of the SeqFans google group?

So do I --- but decisions of this nature might better left left to editorial staff!   WFL

Hey Flying Truce,
it does say for SeqFan Etiquette along with other stuff to
"Stay on topic, stick to facts, topics should be limited to sequences and mathematics" and arxiv does have relevance with both.
Arxiv is a website that affects a lot of us too, so I'd say it's fine.

Best,

Fun facts about the relationship between oeis.org and arxiv.org:

The OEIS has over 44,000 links to arxiv.org.
More than any other domain (other than oeis.org, of course).
Here are the top ten domains:

  44231 arxiv.org

  34386 doi.org

  31730 wolfram.com

  12829 wikipedia.org

   8582 uwaterloo.ca

   5148 jstor.org

   4845 archive.org

   3898 wolframscience.com

   2928 math.ca

   2097 neilsloane.com

Of these 44,231 links to arxiv.org, roughly 4,500 are links to papers authored by Neil Sloane, and roughly 700 are links to papers authored by Simon Plouffe.

A few years ago, someone (perhaps Simon Plouffe) told me how many Wikipedia entries mention the OEIS.  (I forget just how many.  I think I mentioned the number at one of the OEIS Foundation's Board Meetings.)
Best regards

"As of December 2022, there are over 5000 references to the OEIS in the English and French versions of the Wikipedia."

Hello,

I re-indexed wikipedia (french) with a recent version
and I count 703 articles mentioning the OEIS and a total
of 8790 hits.
I am now doing the same for the english version and
most probably the numbers will be even higher.

For those interested, I could dig out all the articles
and precise references.

NOTE : some hits are related to the oeis (a kind
of rare and strange illness the :
OEIS (Omphalocele, Exstrophy, Imperforate anus, Spinal defects)
but references to this topic are somewhat quite rares.

Best regards,
