The USC Shoah Foundation (USCSF) is seeking interviewers for a collection of video interviews with victims and witnesses of antisemitism from 1945 to the present, including antisemitic prejudice and persecution in countries in North Africa and the Middle East experienced by Sephardic, Mizrahi, and Yemenite Jewish communities.
Other experiences include:
- Ethiopian Jewish communities;
- North American Jewish communities;
- Jewish communities under communist rule; and
- Victims of antisemitic terror attacks.
Interviewers should preferably have
- Fluency or native speaker proficiency in relevant languages (especially French, Hebrew, Arabic, Farsi, Amharic, Russian and other East European languages) - in addition to English
- Expertise in at least one of the above five categories
- MA-level or higher degree in Jewish studies, relevant regional history, or another relevant field
- Prior experience of conducting oral history interviews and/or relevant equivalent experience
- Good research, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Comfort with computer programs, video conferencing and phone applications.
After completing a short online orientation course, interviewers will be responsible for setting up the interview date and time, completing a pre-interview questionnaire, carrying out pre-interview research and preparation, and conducting the interview (usually on a fully remote basis).
Interviewers may be eligible for compensation for each interview.
