Dear colleagues,
Tomorrow, March 5 at 12:30 Eastern Time, we will welcome the anthropologist André Levy to the Sephardi Modernities Seminar Series. The title of his session is: From Morocco, Elsewhere: Jewish–Muslim Entanglements Through the Lens of Cultural Intimacy.
Drawing on his work on Moroccan Jewish communities, we will have a conversation with Levy about the tensions between migration and rootedness in these communities. The discussion will explore new ways of thinking about diaspora, highlighting the multiple and interconnected worlds that shape Moroccan Jewish life. The session will also address shared spaces and practices between Jews and Muslims, as well as Levy’s new work on how Jews are perceived from Moroccan Muslim perspectives.
