Greetings 2012 SEPEEG-ers!
Attached is the schedule and talk program for SEPEEG 2012. There are NO talk slots available, and the enthusiasm for giving talks is greatly appreciated! A full program listing posters will be given out at registration.
Registration opens at 3:00pm Friday, at Kresge Hall at the Clemson Outdoor Laboratory
Packing list, various important items addressing lots of questions received in the past few days:
1. Weather is expected to be highs in mid-70'sF, lows in the 50'sF and moderate humidity. Things can change, so layers are suggested. It is also a bit spotty since we are on a cove of Lake Hartwell, so we suggest you include a super warm sweatshirt or coat for bonfire and beverage times, etc.
2. No linens are provided, please bring your sleeping bag and pillow plus your towel and washcloth...plus whatever creature comforts you need.
3. Per cabin of 10 beds: 2 sinks, 1 shower, 1 toilet (within the heated cabins). You will want to coordinate with your roommates for shower time.
4. Bring your flashlight, shower shoes
5. Other items have been listed on the website in the 'Location & Contact' tab, link on the bottom of the page, check it out!
6. WiFi is not available in cabins, but it is all set at Kresge Hall. Sometimes you can get WiFi in the general area, but it is not guaranteed. Login info is posted at registration.
7. Please email your talk to
amy...@gmail.com, upload to the PC netbook at registration. Requested deadlines for uploading your talk are posted online.
8. Sorry, no pets
9. If you plan to arrive after 11pm, please email
amy...@gmail.com so we can look out for you (I will get your message on my phone)
10. Registration will be at Kresge Hall until 9pm, then it will be at the Pavilion (bonfire)
11. Park --> Kresge Hall/CheckIn --> Unpack --> Pavilion bonfire ;-)
12. Gates to the Outdoor Lab will close at night, reopen in the morning both Friday night and Saturday night. Check the GoogleSite for an update on times.
13. Everyone staying at the Outdoor Lab needs to hear the orientation Saturday morning, please plan to attend (thanks!). We will hear a brief history and some guidelines that we need to follow.
14. All cabins are same-sex, and all roommate requests were granted (except for co-ed, apologies it got too complicated)
15. Tumblers are in... and testing shows that they work great for warm and cool beverages. Please try to use your tumbler so we can cut down on trash. The folks in the kitchen will be happy to clean your cup for you if you want, or of course you can do so yourself in the restrooms in Kresge Hall or in the cabins.
16. Your nametag can be reused as a luggage tag after the meeting, the hemp cord can be composted or used to make your luggage tag
17. Artist Lucrezia Bieler-Beerli will have a booth at the meeting, selling nature-inspired art and T-shirts
18. Fishing is not permitted directly at the Outdoor Lab but there is a fishing dock a short walk/bike from the camp. You will need to have a SC Fishing License to fish.
19. Seating for the entire meeting will be at long tables perpendicular to the podium and screen. The same seating will be use for all catered meals, served buffet-style.
20. This is NOT a formal meeting, it is super fun and relaxed... enjoy the excellent science and fresh air!
21. Have a safe trip to Clemson, and please email Amy Lawton-Rauh (
amy...@gmail.com) if you have any questions or encounter any travel problems!
From here on out, please check the Google site for updates:
(Note: Technical difficulties are preventing posting of the schedule on the GoogleGroup site, but it should be up by the end of the day. If you know someone that is going to SEPEEG but did not sign up for the GoogleGroup, please forward this email to them).
Cheers,
