Dear all,
Greetings, I hope you are doing well.
Recently, I have been opening the jupyter lab, and I get the following error,

however when I try to run build, I get the following error.

When I try to run build on the terminal I get the following error "permission denied."
An error occurred.
PermissionError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/usr/local/share/jupyter/lab/staging/index.js'
See the log file for details: /tmp/jupyterlab-debug-5nsho_t3.log
This is causing difficulties in accessing some of the jupyterlab extensions i.e jupyter-leaflet for interactive mapping with gee in jupyterlab.
I have tried to ignore the warning but when I try to use ipyleaflet and geemap for interactive display of maps I get the error “Error displaying widget: model not found’. This behaviour started happening recently after I got the "jupyter lab build error",. I also realized the jupyter-leaflet extension needs update, but when I try to update, I get “A build is needed to include the latest changes” when I click Rebuild, I get ”Build Failed Build failed with 500, please run 'jupyter lab build' on the server for full output”
Below in the extension manager you can see the jupyter-leaflet extension is listed last, it seems it requires to be updated, but I can’t do it from my side.

I will be happy to receive your feedback,
Kindest regards,
Robert Masolele
Dear Robert,
The build of Jupyterlab is handled when the Linux packages are installed (on rebuild of the platform). No user user can actually rebuild JupyterLab from SEPAL. This issue is a known bug and is referenced in the issue tracker of the platform: https://github.com/openforis/sepal/issues/99. Our development team is making its best to find a solution as soon as possible.
As a workaround, if you still need to display ipyleaflet maps, they can still be displayed using the voila preview and/or using Jupyter Notebook.
Best,
Pierrick
