to the mommies with toddlers...

i put this list together for my mom's group at my church, and i thought it might be helpful for those of you out there will little ones. this is by no means a comprehensive list, but it is a start. would be interesting to see what other stomps you have discovered to add to this list.

also, many of these places go in/ out of business (low birth rate in the country), so frequent them so that they stay around. in my opinion, some of these places are better than anything that you might find in the US for kids cafes.

Cafe Piccolo
WHAT IS IT? A new kids cafe where you can eat and the kids can play. It is in Guidong (near Technomart). The design of the place is really beautiful, very modern and really nice, wooden, solid toys. They also have activities (gym, dance, etc) run by the teachers, who like to pretend to talk English.
PROS: Clean, Well Run, Nice Staff
CONS: Parking garage is tight (typical Korean style), Location is a little in nowhere land

Dalki in Jamsil
WHAT IS IT? A large indoor playground for kids. It is located off of the Jamsil Olympic Park. It is run my Ssamzi, which is an environment minded, organic company. They own the Dalki brand, which if you don't know... just rocks!
PROS: GREAT food (seriously very yummy, try the organic shakes), good layout (you can see all of the kids from any place), Great parking, Next to the park so you can picnic too!
CONS: Far from most of you, expensive food
Telephone: 02) 2203-2761
HOURS:  from 10am to 9pm
Cost: Adults 5,000 won/ Kids 10,000 won

Dalki in Yeuido
There is a much smaller Dalki indoor park at Times Square Shopping Mall. If you have never been to Times Square, it's like stepping into a mall in New Jersey in Korea (I'm serious). You have to go... Go to Dalki make the kids jump around for an hour, then put them to sleep, and go shopping with them in the stroller!

KidsN in Cheongdam
WHAT IS IT? It is a hagwon building what also has a small indoor/outdoor playground with a cafe in the basement. Mom's drop their kids for lessons and wait in the cafe for them to finish.
PROS: Very reasonably priced. Valet Parking!
CONS: You can only see your kids in the CC TV in the playground. The Food is TERRIBLE! (but you can bring food from the outside.)
Cost: Kids 3,000/hour or something like that? it changes all of the time

Teddy Bear Kidstearia
WHAT IS IT? An indoor playground with freaky mechanical bears that serve you food. It's really huge with many different areas to play in. Car, kitchen, roleplay, playground, ballpool, etc.
PROS: Great set up, you can see your kids from any place. Good Parking. Good Food.
CONS: Very expensive. After the entrance fee and food, you are in about 30,000 won! Did I mention the weird bears?
Telephone: 02)6282-2580

Kids Cafe in Shinsaegae Downtown
WHAT IS IT? A rest depot for the shopping weary where kids can play and you blankly drink terrible coffee while you watch your kids.
PROS: It's totally manageable. It's Shinsaegae, so nice shopping and you can go to the food court upstairs too! It's FREE!
CONS: It gets totally crowded, so stake your spot to the death! Your kid might whine about buying the toy that they are allowing you to play with for free that you can purchase right next door. (nice marketing!)
WHERE: The Kids Floor in the Myongdong Shinsaegae Department Store

Little Orchard in Dongdaemun Doota
WHAT IS IT? A kids cafe on the 6th floor of Doota (http://www.doota.com/kr/index.do?_method=main) the mega shopping building in Dongdaemun. It's small, but it is a good place to relax after shopping.
PROS: It's indoor and you can shop and play, all-day activity,
CONS: Small, pay by the hour
COST: 8,000 won first two hours and 4,000 the next hour

Another one to add to the list is Little Prince, which particularly
over winter I go to often - think it's more reasonable that Teddy Bear
place for example but much bigger than the Shinsaegae or Doota
cafe's. Ideal for 2-4 year olds I'd say (my daughter is 2.5), and
they do have bouncy chairs and high chairs for little ones.
WHAT IS IT? superb kids cafe
> PROS: good facilities in convinent location, for bus, subway or driving (parking is easy at back of building)
> CONS: can get very busy!
Sinchon Station (Line N 2) . tel. 02-363-4655
Address: Seoul, Seodaemun-gu, Changcheon-dong 18-26, Vertigo building,
12 floor (Shinchon St., Exit 3, about 50 meters, CoffeeBean is on the
first floor)
서울시 서대문구 창천동 18-26 버티고빌딩 12층
. entrance fee: children 6,000 (two hours), under 12 months - free,
adults need to order drink or food
