Myfirm has noticed that after hours they're seeing their phones blink with the red light periodically on their device. For our individual user settings we have people set to 24x7, but our main company number has set hours during the day.

I've also observed that when the phone syncs with the Zoom servers it blinks for a short bit then stops. But my users report (I have not seen it with my own eyes) that the red light continues to blink and looks like it's a missed call. Is this normal/is there a reason for this? I'm hoping to find out - thanks

Yes its possible. Specially on Yealink phones, if a feature or patch is being pushed to the phone, the phone will blink red. It may continue to blink longer if a firmware update is being pushed to the phone and may even reboot.

I did some testing and from what I've observed, the blinking is pretty steady in our off hours. It doesn't appear to be from syncing or receiving a firmware update as it happens daily on the weekends. When the phone syncs it appears to be a more rapid blinking of the red light.

The power saving led parameters are a bit vague as the results depend on the setting of features.power_saving.power_led_flash.off_time but doesn't say what the value of that item is if not set in one's configuration.

Hmm, indeed the light does do a slow flash by default in power saving mode on my yealinks. Surprised no one has complained. I think the intent is to let people know the phone is still on when the display is blank in the off hours?

Overview: Also known as a Recovery Mode Update, the TFTP process can be used to save what can be seen as an otherwise dead phone. This process is most useful in the scenario that a phone either gets stuck in a boot loop, or stays on a Welcome Initializing...Please Wait screen. However, it can also be useful on a device where a factory reset does not seem to be resetting the device correctly. If you find that your device fits into any of these categories, the TFTP recovery can be performed; it will reflash the firmware on the device in the case of a corrupt firmware and if successful, will allow your device to fully boot again.

You will be able to find the necessary recovery files for your device at the following URL Yealink Support. You will need to provide the proper .rom file renamed. So for example, if your device is a T46U you would rename your rom file to T46U.rom. All rom files can be obtained from the yealink website.

From here, you can navigate to the folder for the device that you will be trying to recover, inside of that folder you will find all of the files necessary to perform the TFTP recovery on that device. Download these files and place them in a folder that you will have easy access to. Make sure that you have downloaded all the files in your devices folder, the process will not be successful if you have not acquired all of the files necessary for your device.

On this screen, you are going to want to set the TFTP filesystem root to the folder that you downloaded the files from above in, in this examples case, they are located in a TFTP folder that is on my desktop. You will also want to ensure that you change the read request behavior to give all files and the write request behavior to take all files, so that way the TFTP program will know to allow the phone to request all of the files it is looking for in that folder. Once this is done you can click OK to save your changes and you are ready to move on to the next step.
