Good morning,
My name is Trevor Farthing and I'm a PhD student in the Lanzas lab (
http://www.lanzaslab.org/) at North Carolina State University. I recently came across SensusMobile, and feel that it is just the tool the lab needs for collecting data as part of a flu-monitoring project we are trying to launch. The only issue is that, in addition to using other probes, we are interested in collecting magnetometer data from research subjects' smartphones as well. The plan is to collect magnetometer data in order to construct contact networks using the methodology described in the papers I've attached here (please note that these are
not papers out of our lab, I just wanted to detail what exactly can be done with smartphone magnetometer data in a public health context). So, that brings me to my question for you.
Do you have any plans to add a magnetometer probe to SensusMobile anytime in the near future?
I noticed that a compass heading probe exists, which likely pulls and transforms magnetometer data, but what we're looking for is raw magnetometer data like what can be obtained by using the Phyphox app (
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.rwth_aachen.phyphox). If there is any way you can include this probe in your next update, or council us on how to add the functionality to a local version of Sensus (unfortunately no one in our lab has application-development experience, so we're a bit clueless about how to go about this ourselves), we would be greatly appreciative. Additionally, if you wanted to hear more about our planned flu-tracking project, we are open to a formal collaboration between our groups.
Please let me know if you have any questions for me.
Sincerely,
Trevor Farthing
