FINAL PROJECT IDEATION
The best way to have a good idea is to have a lot of ideas. Put that into practice by independently generating six (6) final project ideas. I've randomly assigned you to groups of four, so you'll have 24 ideas per group. This is not your final project group, just your ideation group. Once you've each individually come up with your 6 ideas, meet with your ideation group and work together to narrow the 24 total down to six good ones that you'll present to the class. When narrowing them down, consider:
  • engagement: are other people intrigued, moved and excited about it?
  • motivation: are you very interested in doing it?
  • definition: can you describe the idea in concrete enough terms to clearly define the project?
  • skills: can you accomplish it using skills you already know?
  • feasibility: are the building management and/or the laws of physics likely to allow your project to proceed?
  • budget: how much will it all cost?
  • schedule: how likely is it that you can accomplish it within the time allotted?
In class, each group will *very* quickly present its six narrowed-down ideas for discussion. Basically, write the idea's title on the board, describe it in a single sentence and move on to the next. We'll discuss as a class. Finally you will be free to form new groups around whatever idea strikes your fancy, with anyone you like.

Hey Sir,

I have been working in four-people group for some time already for final project.

Can you reconsider randomly assigning groups?

This is just for ideation, so it doesn't affect your actual final project group.

But just so I know, who is in the group and what idea are you working on?

Oh, okay...

It's me, Engin, Annelie, Manuella.

There are several things we've talked about.

We're interested in the solarium space, visual representation of the energy usage,  using Cosm(pachube) and internet.

We'd like to keep talking to solidify the idea but we are excited to work together.

Thank you.

Great. You guys should still do the ideation with your groups, and as I said you're welcome to work together afterward, that's fine.

Sorry I had to leave, guys. Did anyone take notes with a little more detail by any chance? I have the first two group's...

1. perspective sharing from the roof - share the view from the solarium with pedestrians or ppl in lobby
2. building-sized game, like clue
3. history interactive display - curation of historical facts presented to tenants in someway
4. lobby sensor interactive display - playful interaction with projection in lobby
5. local network media share - shared media amoung tenants
6. virtual building sensors - electricity, gas, heat usage visualized in building

1. open paths, seeing the paths of the residents around the city
2. three favorites, from each residents, reveal in a map
3. noise map/transformation
4. 1:20 scale, like virtual building
5. 44 sunsets, from the the little prince, seeing 44 sunsets in one day, meditative experience
6. historical media images, pics, media, etc.

I just wrote some descriptions that I can remember in the google doc.
Please update if I got it wrong...
