There is appreciable discussion of how civilization will manage the transition of energy usage in order to reice the deleterious impact of fossil fuel usage on the climate. This view is misleading as its is based on the fallacious assumption that energy alone drives the operation of the systems of civilization. These operations invariably irreversibly use energy and materials so it would be more correct to discuss the usage of IWNRAI (Irreversible Wastage of Natural Resources by Aging Industry). 'renewable' energy and 'clean' energy are terms used by proponents of changes of policy that convey a misleading impression of what should be done to cope with what is irrevocably happening. IWNRAI is a realistic acronym that should be widely used.
