Dear Members of the Senegambian Studies Group:

You have been added to this list because you attended the General Assembly of the Senegambia Studies Group at some point in the last few years or have otherwise expressed an interest in the group. If you do not wish to be on the mailing list, please unsubscribe by sending an email to list...@listserv.gmu.edu with the body “unsubscribe senegambianstudies-l” (without quotation marks) or email Niklas Hultin at ihu...@gmu.edu for assistance.

Please find attached to this email the minutes from the 2019 General Assembly. There are two items that require your attention at this point:

1.Nominations (including self-nominations) for all vacant positions. For some of these positions, we have one or more nominations, for others we have zero. We would like several nominations for each position.

The positions and the current nominees are as follows:

  • President: Babacar Mbaye (Kent State U, incumbent)
  • Vice-President: Mariame Sy (Columbia U, incumbent)
  • Treasurer: Gana Ndiaye (Boston U)
  • Secretary-General: Niklas Hultin (George Mason U)
  • Press Secretary: Bamba Ndiaye (U Louisville)
  • Auditor (Internal): Fatou Drammeh (Ohio U)
  • Auditor (External): Aliou Ly (Middle Tennessee State U).
  • Graduate student representative (pending amendment, see point 2).

2. There is a proposal from the Executive Board to amend our bylaws to create a new permanent position for a Graduate Student Representative. It needs to be approved by 2/3 of the membership.

Please send any additional nominations and your YES or NO vote on the proposed amendment to senegambi...@gmail.com before December 18, 2019. The email vote should be cc:ed to Charles Riley, the group's auditor, via this email address:

charle...@yale.edu

Thank you,

Senegambian Studies Group’s Executive Board
