Idea.... Bar is a good one... only costs what the person wishes to
pay....

Cranberry might be the best.... we have the turnpike and 79.... plus
lots of hotels... if we get a good response we might be able to talk
to one of the hotels for a reduced rate.... :)

Bar Louie might be an idea..... lots of parking and large enough
space to hold a large crowd. :)

Ok - just uploaded two documents I had put together last summer when
this all started. A checklist that highlights some of the main tasks,
and a file of some possible locations I researched.
Here's some additional info/thoughts:
- There were about 500 in our class, if only 1/5 of them show up,
that's 100, plus you'll have guests. I would anticipate that we could
easily have between 150-300. That rules out many bars and potential
smaller locations.
- If you want to do it right (without trying to push for paraylsis by
analysis), I would suggest something a little more organized than
naming a date at a bar/restaraunt and telling people to come.
Especially for people who are out of town like myself, I would have no
desire to come back for something as haphazard as that.
- I understand economic times and all, but even at a restaruant to go
to dinner with a spouse it is at least $35-40. I see no issue in
charging people between $30-35 per person and maybe $50 per couple.
That will probably cover appetizers and two drinks at an event... plus
the cost of renting wherever (if there is a cost).
- I also think it would be nice for someone to organize a class book
(at least name, city, job, brief bio or something) for all of the
alumni (at least those who RSVP).
- Also, most places, including restaruants, will require some kind of
RSVP and possibly a deposit. May want to think of having people
register for the event and pay through PayPal or something ahead of
time. This would give an accurate count and make sure that people pay
before coming.

As someone who lives far away (roughly 10 hours), but who would also
love to attend a reunion of sorts, whatever you decide to plan, please
do so with plenty of time ahead so that classmates who have relocated
can make plans with proper time in advance to attend. I like a lot of
what Heidi has suggested and also feel that up to $50 per couple is
not unreasonable. May I also suggest that find out group rates at
local hotels and try to block of rooms for out of towners like
myself. I will be honest I have no interest whatsoever in helping
plan a reunion but would be more than happy to attend one.

I completly agree with Heidi, I think we do need to have it someplace
other than a bar
because of the size of our class and also, I would not travel a far
distance to attend a
reunion at a bar that was just thrown together.
Heidi has a great list of places and just from a quick view, all the
places are not
that expensive. We might even be able to get away with charging
$20-25/per person.
I also agree that $30-50 is not unreasonable too. I think using pay
pal is a great idea, but
I have no clue how that would work. I have used evite before, but
only for small parties.
-I think a class book is a great idea also, but how expensive would
be to put together. I'm sure
you could get it done by like kinkos, but I have no idea on the price
of things.
-I also like the idea of slide show presentation at the reunion.

I'm available to meet with anyone in the area who wants to plan this.
My year book is in storage somewhere
in Virgina, so I have no year book and I'm not sure how else to try
and get a list of names.
I hope we can finally get this planned, maybe we can pick a date and
time to meet and post it
on FB and try to get more people involved.

With restraruant and halls a deposit is required when a date is picked
and contract signed. This deposit could range from from $500-$1000.
The company I worked from did our X-mas party at The Chadwick in
Wexford and the total bill was $9000.00, $500 deposit, one installment
of $4250.00 halfway and the final payment of $4250.00. That was for
about 200 people for 5-6 hours, open bar for 4 hours, small appetizer
table and buffet dinner. That doesn't include entertianment.

Granted the open bar will be scratched to a cash bar which would lower
the price. At $9000.00 price tag that would be $45 per person.
Treesdale I beleive is around the same price for my prior company did
their x-mas party their.

Most contracts want you to grauntee a certain number of people or the
price might go up.

We are going to need a good number of people on board before we sign
any contracts. That way we could asked everyone to donate $5-$10
dollars to help with the starting costs.

Good, good...

Now all we need is for people to start talking to each other and
contributing ideas. Our FB group has what, 100 members? Our class
was much larger than that, so we need to find some way to reach those
that aren't members of FB or Myspace.

What about contacting the school for a class list?

I think someone already tried that.  The school said that the Class President was the only one able to get that information.

Jeff, didn't you run into Chris a while ago?

That is correct. The class president is the only one able to
retrieve
the class list and theoretically is responsible for organizing the
class reunion. Per their website, "Senior class officers are
responsible for several important school events. They create and
build
the class float for the homecoming parade, conduct class fundraisers
and plan the annual prom. In addition to the prom itself, they run
the
prom fashion show, sell class T-shirts and plan for prom decorating.
Class officers are also responsible for future class reunions." If
the class president is not willing to organize a class reunion, Im
sure we can get enough people who are willing to organize one;
however, they would at least need to get us the class list. Another
method to obtain everyones current location is http://www.classmates.com.
There are many of us that are registered on that website. I am more
than willing to help organize a class reunion, but with my
occupation,
one second I can be in town and the next in another country. I think
at this point we should have our "class officers" contact the school
for the list of graduates, and figure who all is interested in
helping
organize the event. After that those who are willing to organize can
combine heads and determine a location, food, entertainment, etc.

Who all is willing to organize the class reunion? Who all is in the
Pittsburgh area?

I got Chris's email address... He's still in the Cranberry area so I
don't see any reason he can't be contacted. I have an email address
for him, he has my cell #... I'll try emailing him a link to this
forum tomorrow...

Once we have a class list, it's going to be interesting to find
anybody who isn't a member of any networking sites.

If I get a list of "missing" people, I can try and track them down.
I'm fairly proficient at finding people.
