CrazyTaxi City Rush is the first installment in the Crazy Taxi franchise to be exclusive to mobile devices, and for the occasion comes with a game system and controls that are perfectly adapted to touchscreens.

The basic idea of Crazy Taxi City Rush is the same as the rest of the titles in the saga: take loads of passengers to their destinations while making them enjoy themselves enormously along the way. That said, in this case the game system has changed enormously to make it more accessible.

Players won't have total control over the taxi's movement, but rather can change lanes by sliding a finger across the screen, or making a pronounced turn by holding down on one side. With this simple control system you can maneuver the taxi comfortably and intuitively.

As you pass tests and get money, you can buy new taxis to add to your collection or spruce up the ones you already have. You can also unlock new drivers or even new areas of the city that are hidden when you first start out.

At the graphics level Crazy Taxi City Rush offers quite a show. SEGA has managed to put together a visual style that fits perfectly with the game, looks gorgeous, and isn't too demanding on Android devices.

Crazy Taxi City Rush is an entertaining driving game whose main drawback is the integrated in-app purchases system that doesn't do justice to the saga it represents. Nevertheless, for as long as you can keep playing, it's an entertaining title.

Uptodown is a multi-platform app store specialized in Android. Our goal is to provide free and open access to a large catalog of apps without restrictions, while providing a legal distribution platform accessible from any browser, and also through its official native app.

In Crazy Taxi: City Rush, the players do not have a direct control of the vehicle's speed. The road is split into multiple lanes, with swipe controls being used to trigger a lane switch. By touching the left or right side of the screen, the taxi will take a turn if it appears on a crossroad.[1] In order to earn in-game cash currency, the players have a choice between story missions and side jobs.[2] The main objective in most of them is to pick up a certain person and deliver them safely to their destination before the time limit expires. All cars in-game have different handling and speed stats, and can be upgraded and painted on at any time.[3] After the players make an initial selection of the driver and vehicle, City Rush will initiate a tutorial with a purpose of teaching the control scheme.[4]

Kenji Kanno, the creator of the Crazy Taxi series, thought that the format was perfect for the short attention span of people who played mobile games.[5] He thought that City Rush needed to be completely suitable for mobile platforms, which caused the development to start from scratch. The idea was to focus on the simplicity and the casual elements that the original games had.[6] Kanno approached Hardlight as they were finishing the development on Sonic Dash. They developed a prototype, with initial concept designed by Kanno as the foundation. Throughout the development, the team met with Kanno several times discussing different aspects of the game, such as the main structure, pacing of the missions, players' progression and music being used.[7] Hardlight had multiple different iteration of the control system before settling down on the tap and swipe model, caused by the lack of a physical input. Because there was a shift from consoles to a mobile game powered by Unity engine, they were forced to make some radical changes, such as the removal of the open-world feature.[8]

Crazy Taxi was one of the most popular computer games with the adrenaline rush of driving fast without any rules providing excellent entertainment. The no-rules and fast-paced gameplay of Crazy Taxi has found many takers and this is the reason why many Android game developers have looked to take the fun gameplay to deliver entertainment on smart phones as well. Crazy Taxi City Rush is one such game that promises smooth and fast-paced gameplay to keep you hooked throughout. We look at the SEGA offering to see if it is worth giving a try to the taxi game or not.

The taxi game has a trial start whereby you get the instructions and all the help needed to understand the basics while actually playing the game. From how to get customers to how to drive them quickly to their destinations, there is a lot to unpack in the initial round but it is good enough to get you started on the right path.

The taxi game's homepage has your current taxi front and center. You can go to the Showroom to buy a better taxi with better power, capacity, engine, body and tires from this section. You can also build your own set of taxis and then manage them through the 'My Taxis' section. There is also an 'Upgrades' section that lets you upgrade the body, boost power, boost capacity and engine by using in-game earned currency. This can help if you want specific improvements in the taxi. You can also customize by picking different colored rims, hood add-ons and other customization tools through the 'Customize' section. Lastly, you can also change your drive's look and view your achievements in the game through the 'Profile' section. You can also view the Daily Rush Mission and Inbox through the homepage.

The game itself is started with the 'Play' button at the bottom right of the screen. You are told about the customers waiting for you in a graphic and tapping on the 'Play' button again leads you to the actual game. The gameplay itself only revolves around driving customers to their destination in the shortest time possible. Each customer that sits in the taxi requires reaching the destination within a set time with the time indicated at the top left of the screen. The faster you reach the destination, the more bonus you would get from the customer.

The gameplay itself is slightly different from the Crazy Taxi game where you would need to pick customers while driving around the city. Here, every round has a set number of customers and after dropping off one customer, another customer sits in the taxi directly. The controls revolve around moving the car left or right and a button at the center of the screen to stop the car when the destination is reached. The goal is to drive as crazily as possible and to do as many tricks and crashes as possible to increase the entertainment value. However, it is necessary that no targets come in the way of helping the customer reach the destination in the shortest time possible.

The taxi game's graphics are quiet good with the gaming engine also smooth and responsive. The colorful display and the movement of cars is realistic and while the physics in the game is entirely off, you can understand that the premise of the game is such that the laws of physics need to be ignored. The app's background music is also entertaining and interesting and helps in enjoying the game further.

Crazy Taxi City Rush is an entertaining taxi game where you focus on having as much fun as possible. With easy controls, wonderful graphics and fascinating gameplay, this is a quality time pass for anyone who is bored and is looking to have some fun!

Available free of charge with optional In-App Purchases, the game introduces intuitive one-touch driving controls and packs in a bunch of new crazy passengers, a brand new city to explore and a variety of special missions and challenges.

The lane-based app leans heavily on the social component by connecting you to Facebook to compete against your friends. Game Center leaderboards rank you against friends and the rest of the world, with three new sections available: Top Players, Friends and My Rank.

In Crazy Taxi: City Rush you'll play a taxi driver in Bay City, a town where pretty much anything goes and there are no rules. Every time you go on a mission in City Rush, you lose one unit off your gas meter. In order to refill it, you can either watch video ads or spend diamonds. Luckily, just like many other games such as Candy Crush Saga, City Rush is also susceptible to the system time cheat. Simply hop into your Settings app and manually move the time forward by an hour or so. Relaunch City Rush and voila, you should have a full gas meter again!
