I have re-installed MC from live, as well as using the disk, (I have both versions paid), and no mater what I do, the right stick does not allow me to turn at all. I have deleted everything minecraft from my hard drive several times, and re-installed, nothing helps. the stick works perfectly in every other game I have, the is no hint of drift or anything. it worked just fine about a week ago when I played last, but now nothing makes it right, I have even tried all 3 wireless controllers I have and get the same results, all work fine in every game except minecraft!

ps4 controller not working on pc minecraft

I am working with students who are accessing Minecraft: Education Edition on their Chromebooks. Some of them would like to play using their Xbox One and Playstation 4 controllers, but we are having some technical diffucluties. The PS4 controllers seem to work fine wirelessly, but the Xbox controller keeps disconnecting. We have conntected via a USB-C --> USB-A cable to resolve that issue, but when we do it doesn't seem like the game recngnizes that a controller is connected. The buttons all do things, but they don't match the actions that are mapped in the controller settings. Right trigger, for example, is supposed to attack, but it instead makes the character look down. The character also automaticaly looks to the sky and spins around repeatedly without any buttons being pressed on the controller.

Hi there Bradley Ogasawara. Thanks for contacting us here. While the game sometimes accepts using the controller, the game does not fully support controllers, and this can lead to the controls being buggy and non-responsive. I apologize for the inconvenience here.

To access splitscreen mode you need to turn "multiplayer" off in options. Sounds counter intuitive, but the "multiplayer" setting in this case means "multiplayer online", which would explain why you get a Switch Online prompt roadblock. So, turn that off multiplayer in the options, and player two should be able to join by pressing (+) button, which initiates Splitscreen mode.

Subscribing to Nintendo Switch Online does not block multiplayer on one console or across multiple consoles. It only grants access to online games that require it. So, something else changed, or a step is being missed.

In this video, they mention you need to turn "multiplayer" off in options to access splitscreen multiplayer. Sounds counter intuitive, but I think multiplayer setting in this case means "online", which would explain why you get a Switch Online prompt roadblock. So, turn that off, and player two should be able to join by pressing (+) button.

I pasted to video to play at the time stamp where he says you have to turn off "multiplayer" in options to play splitscreen offline.

I clearly have little knowledge on the subject, hence why I had post here.
If you go into worlds on the option screen. Click the relevant world you wish to okay in and there is a toggle there for multiplayer.
I did this and it works fine.

Yesterday I was playing it fine with my Son, (single switch, same home) but starting up the switch today had (yet another) forced update for the switch and has now blocked multiplayer split screen access

@UpdatesSuck Whenever I or someone here have struggled with a greyed out menu option in any game, the problem has always turned out to be a setting somewhere else, sometimes a very counterintuitive setting toggled. I can't guarantee that's the issue here, but statistically speaking, it's likely. Minecraft splits creen has a counterintuitive setting.

@UpdatesSuck Oh, got ya. Sorry to hear. Nintendo will probably point you to the game's developers. I expect Minecraft support is likely your best channel for this. I never rule out anything, but that's probably how this will go.

I've emailed a couple game devs in the past. Fortnite was impressive, got an email reply in 2.5 hours. Rocket League took 2-3 days. Be ready in case Minecraft/Mojang asks for a screen shot of the error prompt/switch online prompt you're getting. I don't think they'll need it, but it's possible they may ask.

@Dermeron Cross platform appears possible, but when I search "minecraft cross platform play", one thing I saw is, you need to have compatible editions of minecraft for cross platform play. I don't know enough to delve further into this topic, though. I think it's safe to say, your wifi is fine, if you've been able to play online with other games.

You may want to ask minecraft support. A response from minecraft support could be quicker and less stressful because, in here, you may not get an answer, or even a good answer.

I am sorry to hear that. Don't be disappointed; you can find many ways to fix this problem. The first one is to uninstall and reinstall the game. Also, you have to be sure it is updated to its latest version. If that doesn't help, try contacting a Nintendo service; maybe you will find a solution to your problem. I am not working in the IT field, and I don't know what else to recommend to you. If you manage to fix the online mode of the game, you can find some cool servers on -minecraft.net/minecraft-bedwars-servers .

Hey guys, so I found this post as I too had this problem and figured out how to fix it with Post #6. Now, that being said there were some of you that had some issues and questions I'd like to address. First off, those of you who had a grey-out over the multiplayer toggle may be trying access the settings from within the world (as in loading in the world and THEN going into settings from the + menu). If so, this won't work and will result in the grey-out over the switch. You have to access the settings from the Worlds Menu (with the friends and servers tabs), then the grey-out will disappear and it will be toggle-able.

Also, @Dermeron if I understand correctly the PS4 and Switch would be running Bedrock edition and should be able to play cross-platfrom since the 1.18 update. Hope this helps even if I'm late to the party

It can be installed using Prism Launcher's mod downloader function through either Modrinth (recommended) or CurseForge. Once installed, please launch your instance and navigate to the in-game controller menu (Options -> Controls -> Controller Settings) and do the calibration. Once that's done, you're ready to use your controller!

It can be installed using Prism Launcher's mod downloader function through either Modrinth (recommended) or CurseForge. Once installed, please launch your instance and navigate to the in-game controls menu. Within the in-game controls menu, you may need to change the "Mode" setting to Controller in order for the game to respond to input from the gamepad. If it doesn't work, you can use the app linked in the mod to edit the controller mappings.

If you're on the Steam Deck, DeckCraft might be useful to you. This is a modpack designed to make it easier to play Minecraft on the Deck. It includes MidnightControls, various optimizations, features, configurations, pre-installed shaders, and more.

You can install it through the launcher by heading to Add Instance, select the Modrinth tab, then press STEAM + X together to open the keyboard and search for "DeckCraft". After this, select your preferred version and install it.

Controllable can be installed using Prism Launcher's mod downloader function through CurseForge. Once installed, you may now launch your instance, and find that the mod should begin working immediately.

Turned my x1 controller on the light dimmed after a moment then just stay off. Put in a fresh set of battery's same issue occurred. I plugged it in via USB stayed in for a moment then turned off. First time this has happened. I've got hardly any interference using only one wireless controller. I'll end up pulling it apart to see if it needs a cleaning or repairs. In the middle of playing mass effect Andromeda really wanna get back into it. Anybody figures out anything keep me posted :)

I fixed this issue by using a known good USB -> Micro USB cable from my phone charger, and fresh batteries in the controller (do NOT assume your cable is okay - try another one if you have it). Turn off the Xbox One and unplug it for a minute or two. In the meantime, plug in the controller using the USB to the side port (probably any port will do, but that's the one I used). Plug the console back in and turn it on using the button on the console, not the controller. After a minute, the light on my non-functioning controller lit up and all was good to go.

Might try this on my bricked (repaired connector, it worked for about 48 hours then also died during an update) controller. Wonder if a higher pin number sold with some newer phones will work? I think it might be a timing issue. Will do some more tests with the SDR# and tape antenna on the chip in case I can ID the exact point at which bootup fails. (related hack: do the same to a dead microSD card as its possible to extrapolate data overwritten if expected pattern is partially known though incredibly slow)

If your controller won't turn on, first try replacing or recharging the batteries. If that still doesn't work, your charge cable may be defective, and may not be charging your batteries. Check out the Xbox One Wireless Controller troubleshooting page for more information at Xbox One Wireless Controller Troubleshooting.
