Hi. After a long struggle with TSE nt running in my Windows machine, I found that maybe it may not be compatible with WSL 1 (I do not want to switch to WSL 2 under a virtual machine in this laptop).

Upon trying to run TSE under this WSL Linux, I get the following:

$ e
-bash: /home/sergio/tse/e: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error

My WSL Linux installation shows the following:

$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:    Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS
Release:        20.04
Codename:       focal

May this be a compilation issue with TSE? Maybe that it's compiled for x86 (32-bit architecture) and that it cannot run under WSL 1?

All other software packages for Ubuntu 20.04 Linux x64 do indeed install and run ok, either from repositories (apt install *) or through manual installation.

I no longer have WSL 1, but that is what it was originally developed under.
I am now running WSL 2, and when I give the lsb_release command, I get:

$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS
Release: 22.04
Codename: jammy

Anyone else here running WSL 1 ?

WSL 1 does not support 32-bit programs and TSE is a 32-bit program.

I must have been mistaken then; sorry about that!

Thanks. Sadly it makes sense. No way, then to run TSE under WSL in Windows 10 (which doesn't support WSL2).

I have been using WSL2 in Windows 10 Pro for years.
Based on a quick search all it requires is an updated Windows 10 version.
I did not find a reference to it needing a Windows Pro version.

typing that command in a cmd.exe box:

f:\wordproc\tse_beta\synhi Tue 28-05-24 16:18:34>   wsl --list --verbose

  NAME                                   STATE           VERSION
* Ubuntu                                 Running         2
  SUSE-Linux-Enterprise-Server-12-SP5    Stopped         2
  rancher-desktop-data                   Stopped         2
  rancher-desktop                        Stopped         2
  Debian                                 Stopped         2
  rhel8wsl                               Stopped         2

In this example, "Ubuntu" is running WSL version 2

Tested on Microsoft Windows 10 Professional.

with friendly greetings
