The PickList extension shrinks TSE picklists to match the search string you
type.
Knud made the request to implement this for regular lists too.
In general, that turns out to be !!! UNSAFE !!!
While picklists are pretty standard, regular lists are not, and often have
functionality which makes it harmful to shrink them. For example, the Recent
Files list would stay shrunk after your TSE session, and a shrunken and
modified Potpourri list would too.
Therefore, default the PickList extension is not configured for regular
lists.
But as of v0.5 you can explicitly configure a regular list by identifying a
unique part of its title.
I have identified and documented two lists for which it is safe to do so:
List Open and View Finds.
List Open note:
It will not always hilite the typed string, until a peculiarity in TSE's
ListOpen macro is fixed.
Semware will do so in the next TSE release.
Or, as described in PickList's documentation, you can delete two lines in
ListOpen.s and recompile it yourself.
Then List Open will work perfectly with PickList.
View Finds note:
Shrink-as-you-type is also applied to the "File: " line(s).
