TSE: Linux: Version: 4.50.14: Issue: TSE crashes when navigating in the TSE menu e.g. from 'Block' to 'Clip' menu option

Hello,

Goal: Checking if the menu 'Shadows' are now present also in TSE for Linux?

Clean TSE for Linux 4.50.14.

Reproduction:

1. Run TSE

E.g. Run cmd.exe and use this command line:

start wsl -d Ubuntu -- xterm -fa Monospace -ge 118x29 -fs 10 -e "<path to your TSE e>"

E.g.

  start wsl -d Ubuntu -- xterm -fa Monospace -ge 118x29 -fs 10 -e "/mnt/c/temp/tse_linux/tse/e"

2. Open the TSE menu (so that you see the 'Shadows') and start e.g. at 'File'

3. Navigate to the right by pressing the 'RightArrow' key repeatedly until you reach the menu option 'Block'
(see screenshot)

4. Press 'RightArrow' key again, so that you navigate to the next menu option 'Clip' on the right.

5. TSE e crashes completely and the TSE window is thus closed immediately and vanishes.

6. Very likely root cause thus the 'Shadows' option introduced in 4.50.14 Linux.

Note: It seems only to occur when selecting the TSE 'Clip' menu option in any way,

So verdict and further isolating: something is wrong only with the 'Clip' menu option.

E.g. navigating from the left to the right in the menu to reach the 'Clip' option.

E.g. navigating from the right to the left in the menu to reach the 'Clip' option.

E.g. selecting the 'Clip' menu option e.g. via <ESCAP> then pressing 'C'

So not related to the 'path' (keys, direction, ...) one uses to open 'Clip', only to choosing that option in any way.

I cannot reproduce this one.
Can you try:
strace -v -o crash.txt e any-file.txt
And send me the crash.txt file
Perhaps the trace file will help me narrow down the problem.

Are you using this downloaded

which we are using? (I used thus the .tgz Linux installation file, not the Linux .zip file)

It should then possibly be reproducible.

I will unzip it again now and see if it still reproduces...

No, not reproducible anymore at this moment when trying again with an unzipped .tgz.

So case can be closed.

Note: The only thing noted here is that the 'Clip' menu flickers a bit longer before opening.

Confirmed: popup window shadows work.

Possible bug: stepping through the menu options "pauses" on Clip for about 3 seconds on my system (but doesn't crash).  Keyboard input during the pause is lost.

Bug!  Sammy's e-mail title was "Version 4.50.15" when announcing version 4.50.14.  Oh noes.
